Stanley Lemke Obituary

Lemke, Lt. Col. Stanley P.
Passed away on the 6th of May. He was born on June 25, 1916 in Texas. He and his mother left Texas when he was 5, to come to California to live with her relatives. He became a lieutenant in the Army before World War II began and was sent to Alaska for 36 months. When he returned to San Diego he met Phyllis Gunn at a dance for officers (the San Diego Club). They were marrired before he was sent to Okinawa. He returned to San Diego when the war was over in 1945. He left the Army and went back to school on the GI Bill. Phyllis graduated from USC and Stan got his USC degree and his masters. He stayed in the Army Active Reserve until he was 60. They have two children Paul and Claudia and lived in Los Angeles and he went to work at Merchants and Manufacturers Assoc until he retired as Vice President of Public Affairs. They then moved to La Canada and from there to Arizona to Sun City West and he chaired the Luke Air Force Officers Club for 2 years.
