Of Brighton, April 2, 2008. Beloved husband of Ann Marie (Wasilauskas). Devoted father of Richard A., Joseph I., III and his wife Susan both of Brighton, and Mark G. and his wife Nancy of Roslindale. Devoted son of the late Louise (O'Callaghan) and Joseph I. Mulligan Sr. of West Roxbury. Loving grandfather of Margaret, Xavier, Finn and Niamh. Brother of Jane Roecklein and her husband Marvin of Orleans, Robert A. and his wife Tina of Wellesley, Gerald T. and his wife Lyn of Andover and Joan M. of Narraganset, RI. Also survived by two nieces and four nephews. Licensing Commissioner City of Boston, former Corporation Counsel City of Boston, past President of the International Institute of Municipal Law Officers, partner in Law Firm Reed & Mulligan, former Suffolk County Assistant District Attorney, Veteran US Navy, former member State Ethics Commission, past president Charitable Irish Society, late Knight of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre, former Trustee of the Roxbury Latin School and St Margaret's Hospital, member of the Catholic Lawyers Guild. Graduate of the Roxbury Latin School, College of the Holy Cross and Suffolk University Law School. Funeral from the Lehman & Reen Funeral Home, 63 Chestnut Hill Ave. (Nr. Brighton Courthouse) BRIGHTON Saturday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in St. Ignatius Church, 28 Commonwealth Ave., Chestnut Hill at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 PM and Friday 2-4 & 6-9 PM. Interment St Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury. I did not have the pleasure of knowing Mr. Mulligan but I know his son Mark. He had to have been a marvelous man, I have no doubt, because Mark is an outstanding guy! My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I lost my father just a few weeks ago myself and it is so hard.
