I was dumfounded to have read about Steve's passing on our High School message board last night. I had the pleasure of being a teammate with him on the ice, as well as working along side of him at Wilson's Farm.
He was a one of a kind guy who lived with passion and vigor, the kind of person you could go years without seeing and yet pick right up where you left off.
Simply put Stephen was the one of those guys you never forgot, a personality and persona which left a mark that couldn't be erased.
Stephen Fuery was a friend I'm proud to have known, and I'll miss the fact we'll never bump into each other again.

I just learned about Stephen's passing today. I will cherish the memories he provided during Junior High School. He was cool. He was likeable. Those were very hard to combine at that age but that best describes Stephen to me. At the same time you envied him, you also rooted for him. That is rare and yes, he did have an uncanny and contagious smile. They broke the mold after Stephen. I feel honored to have spent time near him so I cannot imagine your sorrow as parents. But you were blessed to have him and I feel blessed to have memories of him. As a buddhist I will offer a memorial service to him this afternoon. And during that service I will imagine that great smile, warm heart and charm that only Stephen had.

Deep respect,
John Dunn

Dear Fuery Family,

I met Stephen at Jonas Clarke Junior High. He was very sweet to me - as nice a boyfriend as any teenager could hope for. I'm so sorry for your family, please take care.

Sincerely, Monique Leary

To the Fuery Family:

My childhood centered around sports and it seemed that Stephen was on so many of my baseball and hockey teams. I have great memories playing baseball with him at Clarke Jr. High, High School, and in town teams (with his Dad as our coach). He was the first baseman and I was second baseman so I spent countless summer hours right next to him on the field. I remember competing against tough teams and I distinctly remember how gutsy he was and how thrived on the challenge. I was always glad to have him on my side. I moved away from MA after high school and lost track of him, but I'm sure those same traits served him well into his adult years. When I think of Stephen, I'll always picture a kid running across the field with a smile on his face lifting the championship trophy.
With deepest sympathy,

Michael O'Connell

To the Entire Fuery Family,

I grew up with Chris and Stephen and am proud to say I know the whole family including the Wilsons.
Stephen was one of a kind. All the kids loved him at Adams School. By the time he reached Clarke Middle School he was a stand out athlete and this carried into his High School years. Steve had so many close friends, and those who cared for him. He had a tremendous sense of humor and always made others smile. His untimely passing came as a shock to me. I hope he's in Gods hands, and that we his friends join him in heaven in our own dear time for a good game of baseball. I think Steve would like that very much...

I left a note in this book several days ago. In it I said that my wife and I never had the good fortune to meet Stephen. I guess I really proved my lack of familiarity when I misspelled his name. I apologize for my carelessness. I would never intentionally disrespect his memory. My apology and continued condolences.

We never had the pleasure of meeting Steven, but have gotten to know Chris over the last few years and if he was anything like Chris we sure wish we had known him. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Fuerys and Wilsons at this tragic time. If we can do anything, Chris knows how to reach us. As hard as it may be to see right now, know that better days are ahead, and take comfort in knowing what a great family you have.

Like some here, i go all the way back to Adams school with Steve. I last saw him about 10 years ago while playing softball against him.

He was the same to me as always. A handshake, a hello and that devilish smile.

Even though I went years without seeing him, every time someone told me they had and that he was well i was pleased. Steve was a very easy guy to root for.

My deepest regards to the Fuery family and may Steve rest in peace.

Stephen was my best friend from Kindergarten all through Junior High, and though we drifted apart somewhat in High School , we were able to re-connect later on working at the Farm during college. It is with shock and sadness that I heard of his passing this morning, and a flood of memories of years past come back...the paper route, the 6th grade camping trip to the Cape, ski trip to Pats Peak, Beanpot Hockey, Beatlemania, Van Halen at the Garden....it was never boring with Stephen, he was a loyal friend.

My heart goes to all of Stephen's family and friends, he will be greatly missed, and our prayers are with you.

I don't know yet what happened to my old friend Stephen but to all who read this - I hope you have some great memories of him. I know I do.

I do believe Stephen was my best friend in Junior High school. I remember laughter & sunny days playing wiffle ball in the grass. Stephen was a good friend to have.

To his kids - he was a great guy - I knew him well.

To the Fuerys - good thoughts from across the continent. I wish you well & hope time will help heal the pain.
