I still think of Brian often. Recently, I lost my husband unexpectedly and I understand the joy and pain that come with our memories. I remember many things about Brian. One instance was when we stopped to visit the goats at one of his residences. Another time, he gave my son a book about basketball knowing that he loved the sport. There are so many kindnesses that I witnessed. He was a marvelous teacher and friend. RIP.

It's nearly 14 years later and Brian's memory is still as strong as ever. His laughter and the joy he brought to all of his colleagues at Brockton High are so missed. Keeping good thoughts for all of his friends and family - may his memory be a blessing.

To the Pendergast family, I am sorry for your loss. I met Brian only a couple of times, and in each meeting he was gracious and wanted to be helpful. He spoke of his passion- the kids he taught- each time with a huge smile- he said he loved his career and said he was very satisfied and happy.

Mr. pendergast was the most funniest, smartest, outgoing, caring person i have ever met!!! He was my spanish 3 teacher at BHS, but ive known him for 2 years, he always knows how to cheer u up, even when you dont want him to, hes like a father to all his students. Who not only teaches them the curriculum, but how to live life in general!, he takes his job seriously, but still we have fun! He has changed my life forever just being my teacher!! Dear pendergast family....Mr.pendergast as that is how i knew him...was one of the best spanish teachers in brockton high...i had him for 2 years...he was one of the wacky teachers kids would want...last thing i said to him before graduation was thank you...and he said luis i'm proud of you...me and him had our bad times and good times but he was always there to talk to..he will be missed by me and many others from brockton high who had him as a teacher

Brian was my colleague and friend. We shared an office suite, a prep period, and a lunch period. We worked together for nine years. The office will never be the same. Brian was funny, sincere, kind, and generous. I went to the wake and funeral and was very touched by the words of his friends and family because all knew the same Brian that I loved.
We are all lucky to have known him. Que descanses en paz Briancito. My deepest sympathy goes out to his family. Brian spoke of you often and lovingly.

Laurie, don't know if you remember me but we graduated from BHS together. I recently met your brother Brian a few months ago, and he seemed like a really great guy. I feel fortunate for the short time that I got to know him, and will always remember his smile and good nature. I am truly shocked and saddened at this tragic news, and my heart goes out to you and your family. I lost a brother a few years back and I know firsthand how difficult this is go to through. My prayers and thoughts are with Brian's family at this difficult time. I am a friend of Brian's; we met during a summer job in Brockton. Brian was the guy that could light up a room with his humor, spirit, and laughter. After Brian's wake today there was a beautiful rainbow in the sky. Brian must have been saying good bye. He will be missed in Brockton but never forgotten by many whose lives were touched by him.

Pendergast family,
I can honestly say that Mr.P was the nicest,most caring and honest man i've met in my life. I not only looked at him as my teacher, but as family. He always managed to keep me smiling regardless of any hard times i was going through. I trusted him with all my heart, always told him everything. I miss him so much. I used to hate going to school, until January when i met Mr.P for my spanish 5 & my medical interpretation class. Our class wasnt only a class, but a family. He always spoke greatly about his family including all his nieces and nephews. He loved you all. I loved him so much, he will truly be missed. I am truly sorry for your loss and all of you are in my prayers. Rest in Peace Mr.P, my mumble.

Brian worked for us at Bennett School in Cali, Colombia (S.America) for 3 years and in that time I grew to love & respect him, both professionally and personally. I remember him for his sense of humor & easy laughter, his strong commitment to students and friends - and his generosity of spirit.

mr p was my favorite teacher at brockton high. he got under my skin and vice versa but he always had a way to make me smile and was there for me when i needed someone to talk to. seriously the sweetest guy ive ever met, and im so sad that this happened to him. rest in peace, i will always remember you writing the recommendation that got me into college. thank you so much, i will always have you in my heart

I was one of his students.
Brian was the best teacher I had never met, a beautiful person with a special sense of humor.

Always Remember This> 'It is always the teacher who you couldn't stand that you will miss the most.' Mr. Pendergast was my spanish teacher. I saw Mr. Pendergast every morning in school this last semester. I just graduated form Brockton High School. Although Mr. Pendergast and i did not have a good relationship and i often gave him a hard time he always had a smile on his face. He never got upset when we argued and he put up with me. His sudden death has hit me really hard. I can not help but feel some what guilt and i wish i wouldn't have given him such a hard time. We had our good times and our bad. You never know what you have until it is gone. His death has taught me to appreciate every one and to just have a different aspect to life. Cherish the moments i have with everyone because tomorrow is not guaranteed. i send my condolences to his family and friends, students and co-workers and anyone who was close to him. R.I.P Mr. Pendergast. You will forever be missed. Although he did not have any children, he considered his students as if they were.

I did not know Brian personally, but any friend of my family (Joseph Moya), is a friend of mine. I did chat with him briefly on the email once, and just from that little moment I knew that Brian was a wonderful loving person. My thoughts and prayers go to his beloved family and friends.
