I met Dr Martus in 1969. I was a college student at Northeastern University at the time. Kind of a broke college student. I had a wire fox terrier named Alfie. Dr Martus really took to Alfie and always gave me more than reasonable charges when something was wrong with the dog. Alfie, being a terrier was wild, in a great way. Dr Martus seemed to appreciate that. One day out in the yard, Alfie cut his let kind of bad. I called the Doctor and he said to bring him to the office immediately, which my roommate and I did. When we entered the waiting room, he came out and immediately and gave him an injection. I asked if that was a sedative, he responded, yes, it's either that or we use a 2 x 4. I still remember that time and have always remembered the doctor. I know it has been a long time since his passing, but I thought it was a story to share. He was really a wonderful person.

You are in my thoughts often. You were my first boss and I your first kennel-boy. I have so many memories from those days, they range from the day you made me grow up and make the decision to put Chucky down, to Duchess, to washing your Studebaker Hawke.
