To Laura's Family and Friends,
I am truly saddened by Laura's all too soon passing. I worked with her for many years at MIT and came to know her well. and respect her combination of skills and talents She brought both pragmatism and principle to her work and to the Institute and was devoted to finding solutions that could benefit both her sense of people and her ideals. I highly valued her wisdom and judgment, as I believe many at MIT did. Her caring for both people and principles was rare and will be greatly missed.

Laura was a colleague, a neighbor and a friend during my time at MIT. I looked forward to meetings with her; in addition to her dedication and diligience, she brought her fabulous sense of humor and infectious joie de vivre.

Please accept my deepest condolences for Laura’s passing. Looking back, I have nothing but happy memories of the time I was lucky enough to spend with her, both when I was at MIT and after I had moved on. With her wisdom, imagination, and commitment to her colleagues and to the Institute, not to mention her warm, caring and joyous spirit, it always was a genuine pleasure to work with Laura and to have her as a friend. It is difficult now to find words that might be of help, but please know that I share your grief, and hope that soon your memories of Laura will be a great source of comfort.

Dear Capone and Souza families,
It is hard to put into words how much Laura will be missed. When I was at MIT, she was truly the "wind beneath my wings" - always lifting me up, moving me forward, and teaching me things that no one else ever could. My life is richer for knowing her, and I am so very sad for your loss and how soon she left this earth.

Dear Laura's family,
Like many who have offered their condolences, Laura touched my life in the years that we crossed paths at MIT. I was stunned to hear the news of her loss. The last time I saw Laura I wasn't even aware that she was ill. She radiated that same smile and cheerful outlook we always knew. Not having lost a close family member, I don't know what words of comfort to offer. The loss to your family is a loss to the MIT family, as well. Please accept my heart felt sympathies and prayers as you continue traveling the difficult path ahead.

Joe, Erica & Family,
I still can't believe that I won't see Laura hurrying through the halls of MIT with her charts and markers on the way to a meeting. We worked together for many years in Athletics and DSL. She was always the person you wanted to be around - with her wonderful smile and laugh. She always had the best stories to tell! Erica - you and my daughter, Jessica, spent one summer at the MIT Day Camp. As the years passed, we often talked about the two of you, and she was very proud of you and loved you so much. I know she will be watching over you still.

My deepest sympathy to the Capone & Souza family. I was truly shocked when I heard of this last night from my colleague. I met Laura many years ago when we both were on a committee at MIT. Laura was truly a help to my career becuase she encouraged me to come talk with her when I decided to pursue a degree in Human Resources. Laura you will be truly missed any may you rest in peace.

I knew Laura throughout her long career at MIT but lost touch when I retired 5 years ago and moved away. I was very saddened to see the notice of her death on the MIT campus news web site. She was a diligent hard worker with good judgment and lots of smarts. Many people (including me) respected her and enjoyed working with her. I send my sincere condolences to her family.

Laura you were such a beautiful person, always with a smile as you helped us all.
