John Hurley Obituary

In Dorchester, July 14, 2008, age 83, Retired District Fire Chief, Boston Fire Dept. Beloved husband of the late Rita C. (DeYoung) Hurley. Loving father of Michael J. of Quincy, John J. 3rd of Brockton, Thomas P. Moylan of Walpole, and Diane Konstandoures of Newburyport. Brother of Lee White of NJ and the late Bernard Hurley of Conway, NH. Also survived by 4 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Dear friend of Mary Chiampa. Visiting hours in the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington St., DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS on Wednesday, July 16th from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial in St. Gregory's Church on Thursday morning at 11 AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Interment Cedar Grove Cemetery. W.W. II Veteran, U.S. Army. Deputy Chief Hurley,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your years of dedicated service and sacrifice-first for our Country when you served in the U.S. Army during WW II and secondly for the citizens of Boston when you served with the BFD. I had the great honor of caring for Jack as his primary care physician from 2000 -2002 while I was a resident at BIDMC. He was a wonderful person and loved by all who met him. I will miss him. My condolences to Mike and the rest of the Hurley family.
