Bob and Family:
I was deeply saddened to hear of your loss. Mrs. Shone was one of the best teachers I ever had in my life and even though years have passed and I am now teaching myself, I always remember the example people like her set and still go by those principles today. I can remember a few years ago, it had been a long time since I had seen you folks since moving out of Eastie, I had the pleasure of escorting you folks in during a ceremony for the Knights of Columbus, how proud she was that I was there and how I turned out as a man. That night I thanked her for everything she did and I thanked her again that night of the ceremony. God Bless.

Dear Bob & Family;
I am so very sorry for your loss. Mary was a beautiful woman inside and out. She always thought the best of everyone. I will miss Mary with her exuberant smile and caring ways. I think back to the many stories that we had shared concerning our families, many with laughter and some of sadness. She gave so much and was so positive in her life. I feel that Vinny along with our daughters Marissa and Courtney as well as I have been truly blessed to have known such a giving woman as Mary. She always showed that special interest in our lives. We were so very fortunate to have known Mary and to have shared in some very special memories with her. Mary's face would always light up when sharing stories of her children and grandchildren. It was a delight to see. She was a very special lady who will continue to remain in all our hearts.
Love,

Dear Shone Family,
Mrs. Shone exemplified such grace and kindness in all she did. My son had her as a teacher, and she was one of his greatest teachers who taught him academically but also taught him kindess and patience. As our neighbor, she was always such a pleasure to speak with and her smile was a permanent fixture on our street. I will miss her walking her dogs, waving and smiling, and listening to her speak of her family with such love. Our lives were enriched for having known her - may her family find peace and strength during this difficult time.

Mrs Shone was my teacher in 1986 and in the yrs since we would run into each other quite a bit. She always gave me a big hug accompanied by had that big smile and calming voice. Not many people would remember their 3rd grade teacher but all of St Marys remembered Mrs Shone. Not only was she a great teacher...she was a wonderful person and will be deeply missed by all.
My deepest sympathy to her family.

As I walked into that 3rd grade room at St. Mary's, I had no idea what big shoes I was trying to fill. I quickly learned about how loved, respected, and remembered Mrs. Shone was. The family member that I hardly knew seemed to be known by all. I'm glad I had a chance to meet her and get to know her through their memories. She became an inspiration to me as a teacher. Her students never forgot what she taught them and her caring ways, even after they were grown and had kids of their own. There's a special place in Heaven for good teachers!May God bless all of you at this time of sorrow.

To the Shone Family,
I wanted to give you my deepest sympathy. Mrs. Shone was my most favorite teacher. I loved her and she was very kind. When it was cold and I was walking to school she would always give me a ride to school, because I lived across the street. I would see her from time to time, it was such a pleasure. I will miss her always.

My family and I were truly blessed when we moved two doors down from the Shones. Little did we realize, at that time, the wonderful friends we would be blessed with because of our smart move to Bennington Street. Mary was truly the "sunshine" of our neighborhood. Even when the sun was shining, she shined brighter. When it snowed she was right out there shoveling with the rest of us. She always had a kind word and such an optimistic outlook on life, even after she got sick. I remember a chance encounter with a teenage boy. Mary's name was mentioned and his eyes lit up when I said she was my neighbor. He said, "She was my favorite teacher!!!" I made sure I told Mary that story. I thought what a legacy she must have left for her students and I KNOW the legacy she left for her family, friends and neighbors. We will truly miss the "sunshine" on Bennington Street and Mary's class and grace. My deepest and heartfelt sympathy to you, Bob, Maura, Kevin and Kerri. Our hearts are truly broken!!!

When I need to quickly think about how many days are in a particular month, I always think back to third grade and Mrs. Shone teaching us her poem. She was one of my favorite teacher's at St. Mary's. She truly cared about each and every student. I will miss seeing her on her daily walks by my house during the nice weather and chatting with her about what my brothers and I have been up to since the thrid grade. She will be sorely missed.

Without question, the defining moment in my children's education took place in the third grade at St. Mary Star of the Sea School. There in Mrs. Shone's class, they learned to be independent students and took their learning to another level. Thanks to Mrs. Shone, they have both been very successful in their educations. We will be forever grateful for her contribution to education and this community. We offer our condolences to her wonderful family.

Our thoughts and prayers to all the Shone family. Mrs Shone was a wonderful teacher and person. I spent many great days at her house with Maura when we were going to school at St. Mary's. Had a lot of great conversations with her as she went on her walks. She will be terribly missed. She spoke lovingly of her family and grandchildren and was so proud of them all.
