Mildred Feeley Obituary

FEELEY, Mildred J. "Gra" Beloved wife of the late James A. Feeley and devoted matriarch to her sons the late Jimmy Feeley of Needham, Jeff Feeley of Clearwater FL, and Marty Feeley of Annapolis MD, her grandchildren Jim Feeley of Darien CT, Mickey Feeley of Boston, Traci McCormack of Hingham, Jessica Mason of Tampa FL, and Sean Feeley of Annapolis MD and her great-granchildren Jack and Caitlin Feeley of Darien CT, Megan, Molly, Casey and Evan McCormack of Hingham. Since the birth of her first son until her last days, she never failed to attend or acknowledge by loving note every single significant event in all their lives. Known to family and friends as "Gra" she positively impacted nearly 1000 young lives as an elementary school teacher in the Needham school system for 28 years. After her retirement and the death of her husband, she took up a second career as a residential real estate broker and had considerable success. "Gra" was born in North Hampton MA and lived in Waterbury CT for all her young life. She graduated from the College of St. Elizabeth in a time when few women even attended college. After her husband's death she became fiercely independent and championed women's rights through membership in the American Association of University Women Voters and the Needham Garden Club. All of the women who bare her name by birth or marriage share the rugged independence and dogged determination. She was their inspiration and they are her legacy. In 2002 "Gra" relocated to Annapolis to watch the youngest Feeley grow up. She believed children needed their grandmother near by and she was there for all of them. On October 7th 2008 "Gra" passed away at Anne Arundel Medical Center. Funeral from the George F. Doherty and Sons Funeral Home, 1305 Highland Ave., NEEDHAM, Saturday, Oct. 11th at 9:30 AM. Funeral Mass in St. Joseph's Church, Needham at 10 AM. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visitation Saturday morning prior to Mass from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery, Needham. In lieu of flowers expression of sympathy may be made in "Gra's" memory to the Jimmy Fund, 10 Brookline Pl. West 6th Fl, Brookline MA 02445-7295. For directions & guestbook gfdoherty.com George F. My belated heartfelt sympathy to Mildred's family.........she will always be remembered as a "very special lady". I raised my family on Elmwood Road, not too far from her residence. She was the first impression for my children to experience at the Broadmeadow School. They enjoyed her so much!

In the 1980's I worked with Mildred at A. Clinton Brooks........she was alway so pleasant and kind.

She was a gift to the Needham School system and to real estate.
She will be well remembered and terribly missed by so many people whose lives were touched by her presence.

How fortunate her family was to have enjoyed her for so long. God Bless You Always.........

The memories with Gra are too numerous to list. I am thankful for all the memories I do have and the wonderful relationship we built together. I love to hear the new stories involving my grandmother and I am amazed at how many lives she touched. She was truely one of a kind who will never be replaced, however she will live on in the generations that remain.

My sincere sympathy to Mildred's children and grandchildren. She so loved all of you and often spoke of you with delight! I just want to remember her wonderful spirit..it will always make me smile when I think of her. She worked with me in real estate and was there with her quick wit and wonderful sense of timing. Gra was something special!

My great Grandmother lived a full and beautiful life touching the lives of hundreds of children. As the article states, all of the women in the Feeley family have her independence and determination. I'm proud to say that that is my family and I love them. Rest in Peace Gra, I love you.

Jeff and Marty, Jeff I did not know your mother untill she was retired, but I was always impressed when she came back to Broadmeadow functions, the school my two sons attended. She was extremely friendly and interested in other people. Your children and grandchildren must have had wonderful times with their Gra. My condolences to you both

Mrs. Feeley had a profound effect on so many that passed through her classroom at Broadmeadow. I was one of them. She fostered a love of reading, encouraged lifelong friendships, and ignited a love for school and learning. My thoughts and prayers are with her family, and all whose lives were touched by her.
