John Green Obituary

GREEN, John Glover 78 of Hixson, TN, died on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 in a local hospital. He was born in Boston, MA to the late Lawrence and Dorothy Glover Green. John grew up in Dedham, MA and spent his summers in Truro, MA. He graduated from South Kent High School in South Kent, CT in 1948 and then graduated from Hobart College in Geneva, NY. John was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and then served with the U.S. Army. He was a resident of Chattanooga since 1964 and later retired as an Insurance Executive. John was a member of White Oak United Methodist Church and the Highlander Sunday School Class. He was preceded in death by his son, John G. Green, Jr. and three sisters, Deborah Cahill, Dorothy Walters and Patricia Barnard. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Wright Green; daughter, Patricia (Sam) Jenkins; brother, Larry Green; sister, Lucinda Worthington and five grandchildren, Drew, Libby, Megan, Hannah and Laura. Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Friday at the White Oak United Methodist Church with Rev. Amy Cook officiating. The Highlander Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers. Interment will follow at Chattanooga Memorial Park with military honors. To send the family a condolence, please visit www.lane-coulterchapel.com.
