To all Kathy's family and friends --
I was at Ursuline in the '60's and Kathy was two years ahead of me. I had not seen her since those long ago days, but we did correspond after she went to college. We were friends and I remember her (as so many have said here) as extremely smart, tough, and funny. I asked for a copy of her valedictory address, but I don't think she realized how wonderful it was, so she was unable to provide it. I can see the lasting effect she had on her students and that is her greatest legacy. Well done, my friend, may you rest peacefully and, in the end, "all things will be made new."

I extend my deepest sympathies to Kathy's family.

I had Kathy as a teacher for four years in the early 80's. Kathy was a wonderful teacher and a great friend, and she will be sorely missed. Rest well.

I had Ms. Prins for three years of Latin at Cony, probably when she was just starting there ('76 - '78). She was a wonderful teacher and made learning fun. Even 30 years later, she still comes to mind, usually when I'm using the Latin she taught me to figure out the meaning of some unknown word. She will be greatly missed.

To Kathleen's family, I send my earnest prayer for you all. My sense of loss at her death is also great. As her teacher and friend, I have always held her in my heart and will continue to do so. I am sooo proud of her and the impact of her life on her students and friends. She carried very well the charism of St. Angela! As a fellow Latin teacher, I admire greatly her contributions to the classics and her passionate love for this ancient world!

Kathy was a wonderful teacher and a good friend. I worked with her for many years. She loved her animals and we would talk about our "furry friends" whenever we had a chance.

Wow - what unexpected news. I'm so sorry for your loss, and wish I could have been at the memorial service to express my condolences in person.

Reflecting back on high school, and my time after - I'm not sure I can think of any other teacher who had such a lasting influence over who I am, what I expected of myself, and how I treated others, than Kathy Prins. How could 4 years spent with her (in classroom, in JCL, on trips, after school - ugh, even sometimes with a detention) not make such an impression? I am so thankful for the time that I had to spend with her, those times when I was able to learn in ways subtle and gentle (and, many other times, not-so-subtle and gentle).

With the deepest love, respect, and gratitude - Neil

My condolences to Ms. Prins' family on this loss.

Ms. Prins was a wonderful example of the impact a dedicated teacher can make. I have fond memories of the Latin I class I took my senior year and the Latin Club activities. She was a firm but fair task master who had high expectations of her students, which pushed us all in positive ways. Her effectiveness as a teacher provided an educational foundation well beyond the study of Latin alone that serves me still.

We were all better students because of her dedication to her profession and are better people for her genuine commitment to our growth.

She will be sadly missed.

I has Ms.Prins as a teacher in cony high, and she was truely the most motivating teacher i had. She always pushed me to be the best that i could be. Thanks to her funny little talks, i still hear her voice in my head sometimes and all i can do is smile. She will be greatly missed, but i will always remember her.

I only knew Ms. Prins through my son Tyler, one of her students. I accompanied my son, with Ms. Prins the chaperon, on a Latin trip in '05 to Greece. I observed the mutual respect and admiration between Ms. Prins and her students. During this brief time of exposure, seeing her deal with personalities and situations; I regard her as one of the most remarkable persons that I've ever met. I feel fortunate to have shared that time in my son's world with them. Good bye Ms. Prins

Ms. Prins is one of a handful of teachers and professors that truly made a lasting impressioin on my life. There have been many, many times in the last 12 years I've thought about contacting her again somehow or stopping by Cony while visiting Maine to see. I did this just once and it was a year after I graduated. I wish I'd done it more often. She was an amazing person - smart, funny, tough when you needed it, encouraging when you needed it... She'll be missed.

My condolences are with your family. I am a 1995 graduate of Cony. I did not have the pleasure of having Ms. Prins for Latin. I did however, have her for a study hall or two through-out the years. I remember her as a fun-loving and all around great lady. She will be deeply missed, but a wonderful addition to those in Heaven. Rest Well and Godspeed!!

Kathy was a sweet and considerate neighbor and friend. On one occasion, when Kathy saw a cat hit by a car, Kathy waited for me to come home and ask me if the cat were mine. Kathy was so concerned for my feelings and didn't wanat me to find my kitty injured. Kathy frequentlly invited our son to visit and included him in her plans for camping trips. Bill, Gabe and I will miss her...As our "circle" gets smaller on Earth, it gets larger in Heaven. Until we meet again, rest well, Kathy.

Ms. Prins was truly one of the greats. I had her for four years of Latin, and she made what is typically thought of as an impossible language learnable. She always got the most out of all of her students. I never thought in a million years I would want to spend an entire week of one of my high school summers going to a National Latin Convention, but Ms. Prins made Latin extremely fun and cool. More than anything, Ms. Prins was someone who cared about all her students like they were members of her family. She was an awesome teacher, and an even better person. She’s going to be missed.

I can't even begin to describe how I feel. I have been a wreck for the past 30 hours. She was a teacher, a mentor, a stand-in mother, but most of all a close friend. I talked to her last week, that was the hardest thing.

Kathy was truly one of the most devoted teachers I have ever met. Her standards for academic excellence remained high and she had a powerful impact on her students. I was grateful to have a colleague of her strength and caliber in the foreign language department. May peace and blessings be with you, Kathy.

I had Mrs. Prins for Latin her first year at Cony in 1976. I really enjoyed her as a person and a teacher, she always made the effort to truly listen to anyone that wanted to share their thoughts. I still remember the latin Club initiation and the trip we all took to Boston that year. She was well liked, and often teased for her Boston accent. Many times over the last 28 years I have thought of her, and wanted to stop by the school and visit her. I regret now I never did. She made a difference in my life and I wanted to let her know. I will just have to wait now until we meet again. My thoughts and prayers to her family and friends.

Ms. Prins was the ultimate latin teacher. I had her in the late 70's and her dedication to her students and their progress was evident in the number of students who received national recognition year after year. Ms Prins had a great sense of humor that she shared with her students. We used to have a lot of fun at her expense when she used to wear those high wooden clogs that made a loud noise when she walked. Not only were they loud, they use to make her look a little taller than she was!! Ms Prins, thank you so much for all you taught me.

Kathy Prins really had a great impact on my life. She helped to encourage me to do my best and work hard for my own life and to reach my potential.

She was definitely one of my favorite teachers I had at Cony High School. I would often go in and speak with her after classes and on breaks. She was a very nice woman who obviously cared about students.

I have so enjoyed working with Kathy through FLAME. Her dedication to languages, especially the classics, was always unwavering. As she handed me the torch for treasurer of FLAME, she was supportive and very helpful. I will miss her greatly.
My most sincere condolences.
