I was very saddened to hear of the passing of Thelma.
Since I have known her most of my life, and her daughter Lolita is my lifelong friend, she in many ways was like a second mother to me growing up.
I guess I will always remember her interest in the community and writing "Letters to the Editor" in the Arlington paper, and I was amazed at her intelligence in commenting about local politics.
More importantly she was a wonderful mother. She took all kinds of "strays" into her home that her kids dragged home and treated them like her own family. She was a big reason I believe that her children have been so creative. She always wanted them to express their creativity and be individuals. She loved most everyone and was in my view a most "non judgemental" person. That is a quality that we can all admire.
Although Thelma or "Ma Lopez" lived a very simple life here on earth, I like to think that her reward in heaven has just begun to unfold, and that we can only imagine what is waiting for us on the other side. Her physical pain is gone, and I can just picture her beaming now that she has been reunited with the people who she loved and have already crossed over.
I will keep her in my heart always and I thank her for being a kind and loving person who was part of my life on earth. I love you Ma Lopez.
