Andrew Holston Obituary

Born May 4, 1918 in Allston, MA, died August 7, 2007 in Carlsbad, CA. Childhood in Brookline, MA amidst large Irish Catholic extended family. Andy had a passion for sports, especially baseball. A dedicated Red Sox fan, he often walked to Fenway Park as a young boy to watch his favorite team practice. Served during WWII in US Naval Reserve as Lt. JG, Naval navigator. Navy flight training led to a lifelong career with Scandinavian Airlines System, being stationed first in Gander Newfoundland at the time of the first transatlantic polar routes, later in Winnipeg, Canada, New York and Los Angeles. Andy actively participated in the Sons of Norway, and Swedish and Danish fraternal organizations. After retiring in 1984, Andy traveled extensively with his wife, was an active member in the Rotary Club International Westchester, and volunteered at the local community hospital. Andy leaves behind his wife Annie Elizabeth (Salassi) Holston, his children John and Elizabeth Holston, six grandchildren, & his sister Margarita Cavanaugh.

Sir, I didn't know you, but I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the U.S. Navy during WW II and for being a member of the Greatest Generation. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
