To the family of Sr. Marie --
I am Libby Tisdell, writing from Harrisburg, PA. I had the pleasure of working with Sr. Marie and being mentored by her when I was a student and then a peer minister at the University of Maine, some 30 years ago. I'm SO sorry to hear of her passing. She was one of the great mentors of my life, which led me to pursue a master's degree in religion and my own career in ministry.
I came across Sr. Marie's obituary quite by accident. She was on my mind, and I did a google search on her to discover her passing of only a few days ago. Perhaps she was tapping me on the shoulder from up in heaven!
Though I haven't lived in New England for some 30 years, I kept in touch with Marie for much of that time and had lunch with her last about 10 years ago in New Hampshire. I tried to stay in touch after that but never got responses to my e-mails, so was unsure of the address and then unsure of where she was. I'm sorry she is no longer here in body, but her spirit lives on in all of those who loved her, and in the many memories that so many of us have of her.
To all her family, my heartfelt condolences. I did meet some of you a long time ago. Sr. Ginny might remember me, and if so I would love to hear from you. For now, may you all be comforted in your grief.
Blessings and fond memories,
LIbby Tisdell

As members of the staff of Catholic Charities North, we know we speak for all of our colleagues in expressing our heartfelt sympathy to the family of Sr Marie West. We join you in grieving the loss of such a wonderful, spiritual,-- and spirited -- person. Just last month, we shared emails back and forth with Marie, planning a fall get-together. We are stunned and saddened to learn of her passing. We were fortunate to work with Marie when she staffed our Community Services programs in Gloucester. She was greatly loved and respected by all who came in contact with her. We will miss her.

My heartfelt condolances to the family. I have known Marie for many, many years. Most recently, I was privileged to work in the same space as she did here in Gloucester. She was kind to people who came for help -- these were the most vulnerable in our Gloucester community. She had many, many gifts. Best of all, she was a lover of life and she struggled to maintain it healthily. I will miss her. She truly reflected "How good the good God is." Marie, PRESENTE!
