"Uncle Ed" wasn't my blood uncle but it seemed like I always knew him as my uncle. I remember going to the cottage in Rowe with my parents as a child and I always loved having his blueberry pancakes if I spent the night. We lost touch over the years but I moved back to MA in 1994. I attended "Aunt" Vilma's wake that spring and soon after Uncle Ed and I made plans to play golf and visit his cottage. Playing golf with Uncle Ed is among my most charished memories. We are both left-handed golfers and it was great to play the funky & challanging Ashland Community Golf Course with him. Spending the night at his cottage proved you can go home. Set on protected Pelham Lake, Uncle Ed's cottage looked the same and so did his 3 or 4 neighbors everything the same, right down to his signature blueberry pancakes. Uncle Ed welcomed my family into his life. My 11 year old son Paul's loves to tell the story of when he got to ride in the golfcart when he was little. I'll miss his wonderful sense of humor, his generousity, and his love.
Keep your head down and swing smooth Uncle Ed.

Love, Jack Laurent
