Dear Marie,
With deep regret, I must say that I did not see or receive notice of Herb's passing until this very day, July 21, 2008, when the article. " A Legacy of Research" appeared in Section B of the Boston Globe. He was an active member in and good friend of his professional society of food technologists and our regional organization, the Northeast Section Institute of Food Technologists. Many of his graduate students applied for and received our scholarships. I never realized, since I had never visited the Research Station, the somewhat humble facilities in which he operated. But, sometimes the greatest discoveries are and were made under such circumstances. I considered Herb a personal friend as well as colleague. I am heartened to see that a new, improved facility and improvement of the pier is being planned. God's Peace, Marie, and my belated condolences.

Dear Aunt Marie, Stan, Tricia, Kathy, Lil and Stephen,
I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your husband/dad. He was a brilliant, kind and funny man. Although I haven't seen you all in a while I still remember the fun times we had at Grandma and Grandpa's when we were younger. My dad is very sad over the loss of his "little brother" as he called him the other day. Uncle Herb will be truly missed by all. My sympathies and prayers are with you.
Love always,

Lynn DeCristofaro
