A rose is a rose is a rose. Except when it came to Gramma Rose. She was one in a million. One in 2 million! Do I hear 3?
She was always willing to share her stories of when she was a child, teen, young lady...then a wife, mother and widow. Her stories of the "old days" will be cherished by all who heard them.
She was blessed with many family members... those who shared her blood and the many more who did not. She has been the "family" matriarch for years, always presiding over the holidays and birthdays, and whenever we all decided to get together.
Making the thousands of cuccidatis without Gramma will be painful... she won't be there to make sure we are doing it right. She won't be dipping the jujulanies and rolling them in sesame seeds. She won't be telling us the stories that we've all heard so many times and still laugh at anyway. When she laughed, we all laughed. It was hard to stop her once she got going.
I'll always remember her last car accident.. what was she, 90? So glad she wasn't hurt driving that car up the side of the drug store! And how about the penny garland at weddings? She worked hard on those long strings of pennies over the years...always trying to spread the good luck around.
Gramma Rose's love of all of us was evident in the hugs and kisses she shared with us. One of the things I'll miss the most is the birthday cards signed "Rose Parlatore"... it didn't matter if you were a casual acquaintance or her daughter... that's how she signed her cards.
Also, her love of wrestling and "The Rock" will be forever in the family lore. We'll always be on the lookout for her "Sugar Daddy", as you never know when he'll be around. Although, I don't know if any of us ever actually saw him! :)
We'll miss you, Gramma Rose. We'll love you forever.
