Thursday this year is the anniversary of your passing and I'm still having blue moments thinking about the loss of you in my life. I'd like to share his solo work here on guitar with our band and a song I wrote. I was on keys, Daniel Mills on bass, Greg on guitar and my youngest brother we lost earlier this year Lon Folts on drums.

Remember him from the Musician's Flea Market when it was held twice a year. I was thinking of him when Batavia held the guitar show last weekend. He knew his music.

A website has been in the works for some time now and is partially ready for viewing at www.gregswitala.com
We'd like it if any of you had anything to add to its content to contact the webmaster via the link there so that it continues to grow, which we belive it will.
If you know of people whose names are not included on the people list, or have photos, recorded sound or video, it would be great to add it to this website of remembrance for Greg.
Thanks for reading and hope to see you there.

Let me start off by saying I used to refer to him as: The Greg Switala. He could be so originally funny, that I thought it would be a good venue for him to start a web page by the name: Greg Switala, as himself.
Greg was one of the most amazing people I’ve ever met in my life. I witnessed Greg as been kind, gentle, loving, caring, nurturing, forgiving, generous, remorseful, truthful, professional, supportive, progressive, intuitive, astute, creative, curious, warm, friendly, charismatic, funny, plain, deep, earthy and sometimes sad or down. Still, no matter what, he would always see the funny side of things and laugh. Who can forget his smile, his eyes, his voice, his hair, gracious mannerisms, style and class. Who didn’t he somehow make smile, think, laugh or relax. He tried to make everyone he met feel respected and comfortable.
Greg was a very spiritual/peaceful person. On Sunday mornings he would sit at his kitchen table and drink his coffee, in view of the window/sky, while playing his heart ~ ~ his acoustic guitar. He loved music. He recently had been captured by Eric Johnson and the guy who does the Gravity song. :]
Greg always had something good to say about anyone he knew or met and he had so many treasured memories. He always listened w/ respect, interest and concern. When he spoke to you, he spoke from his heart and soul. Everyone loved Greg.
Greg was a self-motivated learner. He always had passionate interests. He could tell you anything about any kind of stringed instrument to the ninth. He would rattle off names, dates, factories, countries, wood types,…just every bit of information one could know about his guitars, violins, bows, etc….. He had many interest of science, space and the basic questions everyone has about life. He would read on the zero point of gravity, Solar Power, The Changes in the sun and on such as the Myans (The Myan Calendar), survival and a new word of the day.
I lost Greg once. I always remembered him. Somehow I got lucky to have him in my life again, and I could never figure out how. I learned something new from him every single day/moment we shared. Greg would make every moment w/ someone special. Greg was a chapter in my book, we hoped to have more pages on. He wrote for me the most beautiful song I’ve ever heard.
He made me think, feel, smile, laugh, dance, sing, listen, relax and love. Greg will always be apart of me and my family. He was my best friend and my soul mate. He was more than beautiful to me. I could have looked into his eyes and onto his face forever.
I will never forget you my friend, my heart, my soul, my sunshine, my joy, but when I do remember you, as for now that all I can do, I will sometimes feel sad. I can only hope that there is a place, that God will honor the love we had for each other and allow it continue together.
Rest in peace

Be Still
Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.
Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.
If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

To Greg's family and friends. I'm very sorry to hear of Greg's passing. May God be with us all at this very sad time. We all wish we still had Greg here with us, but Greg is in a better place now anyways. Heck I know he's jamming with Hendrix at this very moment. Greg was one of my best and truest friends. From high school to band mate and just hanging out with Greg, I had the best times of my life. Greg was the most honest and down to earth person I have ever met, and yes the best dam guirtarist that ever lived.
I will miss you my friend.

My guitar player, mentor, teacher, inspiration and most of all my friend. Many a time on stage together I'd look to my right and he'd give me that sly grin of his. It'd make me laugh and calm the nerves. Thank you for all the music, the long conversations about life and the memories Greg.

Greg and I met when we were only teenagers and literally shared thousands of hours playing, recording and discussing music and just sharing about our lives in general, that was 32 years ago.
Many times we were each others 'go to person' for some sound advice when life's issues troubled either of us and wanted to talk about it. I always trusted him to tell me straight up what he thought and it always came from the heart.
Alot of time has passed since then and there is nothing that can fill the void in my life from his passing. I'll never play or compose music again without thinking of him and wondering what he'd think or have to add. I considered him family, my brother.
I extend my sincere deepest heartfelt sympathy to his family for your great loss. Greg is reunited with his Mom and Dad once again. I'm keeping you all in my prayers during this difficult time.
Till we meet again one day my friend...

Ruth and I are so very sorry to have lost not just a neighbor but a Loving friend as well.
In this time of grief, may the glow of God's love light your way, and may the warmth of His embrace give you peace and comfort. Today and always, may the loving memories of Greg bring you strength, comfort, and peace.
Those dearest to us never really leave; they live on in the way they cared, shared and made us happy.
