I first met Bernice Szuniewicz at a family outing in 1978 while dating her niece, Debbie.
I was made to feel welcome by Aunt Bernie right at hello.
I was taken, by her friendliness and graciousness as I still am today.
Through the years she has meant so very much to my family.
Many of you know that Debbie and I love to travel.
When our sons were small, Aunt Bernie was there to watch the boys whether we took a weeklong vacation or just an overnight getaway.
Of course they were always little angels!
The picnics, the ball games, the dinners, the bus trips
So many fond memories…
But, I would like to share a couple lighter moments…
A while back, at a party at our home, the guys were discussing football and playing those football cards on which you circle 4 teams and put a couple of bucks on.
Well, Aunt Bernie decides to play one.
She knows nothing about football.
With pen in hand, she says, “I’ll take Minnesota because that is where my mother lived.”
“I’ll take Miami because we had a wonderful vacation there.”
“I’ll take Cleveland because of the Cleveland Clinic.”
“And I’ll take Buffalo because we live here.”
Well… none of the guys, the experts won on their cards, but Aunt Bernie went 4 for 4, winning the $20 prize.
“Innocence rewarded”
And just last Thursday… Aunt Bernie purchased a brand new 32” color TV.
After Jerry, Joey and I deliver it and get it set up, we show her how the remote works.
She then settles in her chair and with great joy points the remote at this big beautiful television, beaming bright colors… and puts on the Andy Griffin Show. (a black and white program)
“A show about innocence”
In closing, we give thanks for the life of a woman I am so proud to have known. She was a great role model and an inspiration. The extraordinary and irreplaceable Bernice, whose beauty, both internal and external, will never be extinguished from our minds.

Bernie was a one of a kind..much like her late husband Frank. They were both very dear members of our extended family and along with my parents I'm sure the 4 of them are having a wonderful time together again finally. Rest in peace Bernie and thanks for your smile and delicious fish dinners. Kevin O'Connell and Family

Aunt Bernie was a wonderful person, she just loved life and enjoyed the company of many over the years I have known her. She will be deeply missed.

How very sorry I was to hear of Bernie's death. She was a such a joyfilled person always looking at the positive side of things. She was also filled with the love of God!
Bernie brought her loving personality where ever she went. She enjoyed the children in her CCD classes, working on committee's, going on outings, working for Church affairs AND playing BINGO. Bernie even loved calling the numbers. And of course she loved people. She was a #1 Hostess!
We can be sure Frank was right there waiting for her in Heaven.
It was pure joy to be called "Bernie's Friend".
Be assured of special prayers for the repose of her soul and for her Family.
May she rest in peace! God bless her.
