It was very sad to receive this notification. I, too, went to St. Ambrose with Joey years ago, and I remember him as being such a nice kid. I enjoyed knowing him for such a short time in his life. My condolences to your family.

Dear Mrs. Hynes and Family,
It has been over 30+ years since I last saw Joey but rarely has a day gone by that I haven't thought of him and asked Karen Johnson if she knew how he was doing. I was so saddened to hear of his passing. Our days at St. Ambrose and Joey's beautiful smile will always be remembered. Please accept my deepest condolences. My prayers are with each of you.

To the entire Hynes family,
I have never met your son and knew absolutly nothing about him, till now. All I can say from reading all the many wonderful memories and stories of him, he must have been a very wonderful, caring and loved person one will ever meet. May all the memories you have of him and reading the many tributes to him, help you through these very hard times. You were blessed to have such a wonderul son and from what I read he was blessed to have all of you. Please accept my sympathy.

My sincerest condolences to the Hynes family. You have lost a loving son and I have lost an irreplaceable friend- the memory of our friendship is filled with beautiful encounters, enriching and delightful conversations over coffee and dessert. Joe and I met through a mutual colleague, Sister Guadalupe, through his work as Executive Director of Santa Marta Hospital in ELA. Over the course of 15 years, he was my mentor who advised me in my administration as a principal and in the area of school development. Joe was well respected and connected to the movers and shakers in Los Angeles; such that, his wealth of resources touched the lives of disadvantaged children and struggling families in ELA through school improvements and improved health care. He was a true gentleman with impeccable manners, a great sense of New York humor, a real passion for life with a gift of expression in the written word. Joe had a kind heart and generous soul. Although, I realize his presence will be with me, I will miss him tremendously; it is very difficult to think of life without being able to share it with Joe and his explosive laughter. Dear Hynes Family and friends,
Joe was a friend of mine for 31 years. He was a very dear friend, a kind and loving person. I will miss our phone calls, and Holiday visits. I will not be able to attend the Mass but would ask if possible to please send me a few Mass cards, if available. We have mutual friends in Denver and Ontario, Canada. I will be with you in Spirit during this very sad, sad time. Know you are all in my prayers. I know Joe is already enjoying the "other side", and that his spirit is with us.
May God grant you and all of us His Grace at this time of loss.
Blessings, Peace, and Love,
