95 years wasn't long enough. 195 years wouldn't be long enough. I miss you, Mom.

Dear Family,
I just wanted to say how grateful I am for all the time I got to spend with Gram these last few years. My visits started as a favor to Mom, but it felt so good to see her face light up when I stopped by. I loved to see her dance and hear her sing at parties, watch her smile when she beat me at rummy, and watch her race around the halls using her
walker with the basket filled with all her important items: pictures of her and Grandpa, her hard candy, always a deck of cards and the change she won from her family.
And everytime I left she'd kiss me and tell me that she loved me. Who wouldn't feel great after that?
The nurses and staff at the Home knew that she was special and always had wonderful things to say about Grandma (even when she gave them a hard time). They always said she was spunky, but she was always a lady. So many of them made a point to stop in and say goodbye to her and passed on a story about Mary C-O-L-O-M-O-N!
I will always remember spending Gram's last few hours listening to Aunt Dean talk about her life and I am so happy that I could be there when she passed on.
It was a very special time and I feel sorry that more of her family didn't get the chance to experience how funny, feisty and loving Grandma could be. I'm sure everyone will take comfort in knowing that she's at peace now and with Grandpa and all her loved ones. God Bless You Always!
