Not sure what to say?

I knew Scott when I was a freshman at Eastman and feel very fortunate to have been around him. I remember that Mahler 3 concert that Matt Witten spoke about, and I remember feeling much the same way. It didn't take long once you knew Scott to be inspired by his musicianship and his kind nature. He was a wonderful guy, a fantastic musician, and will be greatly missed. My heart goes out to his family.

I just found out that Scott passed away. My condolences to his family. I knew Scott back in high school, we were in the same Spanish class. We spent many days working on our final exam, which was a silly cooking show in Spanish. He acted as well as produced our cooking show on video. He had a great imagination. I was hoping to catch up at our 10 year high school reunion. I am grateful that I knew him.

Love,

I came to know Scott when he was a finalist for a vacancy in the Houston Symphony a few years ago. It was a privilege to get acquainted with him and to have him play in the orchestra for a week. We spent a good bit of time together and I could easily see that he was a gifted musician and a very fine human being. I share in the grief that you all must feel; what a loss. My heart goes out to his family and friends. You are in my prayers.

To Scott's family: I am so sorry for your loss. When I was a freshman, Philharmonia performed Mahler's third Symphony which most of you will know has a huge trombone solo that Scott played (and nailed it I might add). I just remember being so amazed, asking nearby friends, who is that? His playing was an inspiration to anyone you ask. Scott will be greatly missed.

I was deeply saddened to hear about Scott's passing. I was friends with him when we played in Youth Symphony together in high school, and we were together at Eastman for three years. I remember how enthusiastic and passionate about music he was, that he was always happy, and I never knew anyone who did not think the world of him and his talent. I had the pleasure of running into him at Julliard a year ago while he was (not surprisingly) subbing with the New York Philharmonic. He was a wonderful talent and a life that will be greatly missed.

I am sorry to hear about the passing of Scott. He was one of my younger Sibs at the Eastman School when he was a freshman in 1994-95, and he was of course a great guy and a fine musician. My warmest condolences to the family.

I wish to extend my deepest condolences to The Parkinson Family and to his wife Robin. Scott’s parents, Judy and Leonard Parkinson, are dear friends of my parents. My mother, Patricia Cochran, played violin with Judy Parkinson for many many years. My parents were always proud of Scott and always kept me up to date with his amazing accomplishments...too many to enumerate. This world has lost an amazing musician, son and husband. My heart is breaking for his wife, family and friends. They are in my thoughts and prayers.

Love,

As Scott's teacher during his high school years, I knew first hand his talent, dedication, and aspirations. It is devastating to lose such a perfect human being at such a tender age. We empathize with Robin and his parents, Len and Judy, and his sister Jennifer. Scott will be missed immensely by all who he touched.

Scott will be missed. He was a genuine source of inspiration for many people in all aspects of life. My favorite memory of Scott was during the preparation of his Masters Recital at Juilliard. He chose to perform a song transcription to dedicate to Robin. It was absolutely gorgeous. My deepest condolences to all of his family.

Autumn and I have been numb since hearing the awful news on Wednesday. I don't know what to say - Scott was an incredible person, and he will be missed. You are constantly in our thoughts and prayers; we grieve with you for the loss of a good friend and a wonderful human being.

I was so sad to learn of Scott's passing. Scott was a wonderful person, and I always enjoyed working with him and just being around him. He will be truly missed by the many people who undoubtedly feel exactly the same way.

Andrea Levine

July 16, 2004

I knew Scott as a friend and colleague at Eastman. I did not know him very well, but he was such an inspiration. In my practicing, I still think of him everyday because of all the smart advice he gave me, and just because of the superb professional and musical example he set for everyone around him. And, of course, he always knew how to have a good time, and left no one out.

Scott was someone about whom I expected to hear a lot more great things in the profession and in the world. It is so sad and so unbelievable that such a vibrant personality and musician is no longer existing. We are all lucky to have known him in any capacity.

Scott and I were friends and colleagues at Eastman. I heard many Joe Alessi stories during the time I knew Scott! Scott was a good friend, a talented musician and genuinely sweet human being.

Scott, I will miss you. Your kind smile and beautiful trombone playing will remain a special memory in my heart always.
