Royal A. Poggensee, U.S. Army Korean War Veteran, late of Orland Park formerly of North Riverside. Beloved husband of the late Mary, nee Scully; devoted father of Kathleen (Frank) Ambrosic, Robert (Linda) and Thomas (Jeanold) Poggensee; loving grandfather of Brant (Chrissy), Kristen, Marc, Nicole, Katie and Maeve Poggensee and Alec Ambrosic; dear brother of the late Howard Poggensee. Visitation Tuesday, 2 to 9 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. Funeral Service at the Thornridge Funeral Home,(Janusz Family Funeral Service) 14318 S. LaGrange Rd., (9600 W/Rte. 45), Orland Park. We were saddened to read of Royal's passing. The morning the obit appeared in the paper, we were on our way out the door to catch a plane to start our vacation. Royal was my boss for over 20 years at Encyclopaedia Britannica. He and Mary were great people.
