Peter Plepel Obituary

Peter D. Plepel, 92, of Glen Ellyn for 45 years, passed away at his home on April 27, 2011. He was the devoted husband of Joan, nee McCutchen, Plepel; loving father of Garrett (Mary) Plepel and Scott (Julie) Plepel; cherished grandfather of Shawn, Jason, Lindsay and KayLee Plepel; beloved brother of Domina Plepel, Joseph (Robin) Plepel and the late John Plepel and Michael Preston. Peter graduated from Morton Junior College and Northwestern Evening School. He served as 1st Lieutenant in the Army of the United States during World War II and the Korean War. In between wars, Peter spent time as an assistant pro at Chicago Golf Club in Wheaton. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he pursued a career in manufacturing. He was founder and president of Advance Metal Moulding and Monk Manufacturing Co., both formerly located in Addison. In his later working years as he pushed off retirement, Peter also worked part-time in sales for Alto Manufacturing and Garco Manufacturing. Peter's favorite activity was golfing at the Village Links, of Glen Ellyn. He enjoyed and loved the game of golf. Visitation Tuesday, 5 to 8 p.m. at Williams-Kampp Funeral Home, 430 E. Roosevelt Rd., Wheaton, IL (one block east of Naperville Rd.). Funeral service Wednesday, 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Private Entombment Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.
