Marguerite Davis Obituary

Marguerite Davis, nee Esposito, 57, of Evanston, IL, died on May 2, 2011 from breast cancer. Marguerite was born in Chicago on Feb. 4, 1954 to Alfred and Anne, nee Yedinak, Esposito. She grew up in Griffith, IN, attending St. Mary's grade school and Griffith H.S. She earned a B.S. cum laude in Marketing and Economics from Indiana Univ. in 1976. She earned an MBA cum laude in Marketing from DePaul Univ. in 1989. Marguerite, a born leader, had the extraordinary ability to bring out the best in everyone. She loved life and lived it to the fullest up to her death. She loved her garden, honored in the 2010 Keep Evanston Beautiful garden walk. Her gourmet cooking was an expression of her abundant hospitality to family and friends. She also took great pride in decorating her house. Her life was devoted to providing comfort, cheer and beauty to everyone and everything she touched. We will miss her hearty laugh and sense of humor. Marguerite's marketing career began with Quaker Oats, then VP and Gen. Mgr. at Sweetheart Cup, Pres. of General Learning Communications, and VP and Gen. Mgr. at Ralcorp Frozen Bakery Products. Notwithstanding a successful career, she knew her greatest accomplishment in life was the marriage and home she shared with her husband. Marguerite is survived by her husband of 27 years, Robert "Rob" C. Davis III; her brother Alfred Ricardo "Ric" Esposito; uncle, aunt, cousins, and many friends. The family is planning a memorial service to celebrate her life. Donations to Susan G. Komen For the Cure, ww5.komen.org, dedicated to the cure of breast cancer.

Saddened to learn this news, I have fond memories of playing school, having play recitals in her basement on Dwiggins as kids, I lived across the street, I remember the tragic loss of her mom, very athletic brother Ric and remember how sweet Marguerite always was, Melodye Harrison Grochowski

Hard to believe we lost you that very long ago.

Dear Ric;
I was so sorry to hear of Marguerite's passing. As my sister wrote, our family (the Kobak's) were family friends. I always enjoyed our visits to your house on Dwiggins St. We always had such fun playing with you and Marguerite. Your mom and dad were such wonderful people as well. My deepest sympathies.

It can be so hard to face the first year without your loved one, but the love of God which's greater than all, family, and friends can carry you through.

My sympathy to the family, especially brother Ric. Marguerite and I grew up together in Griffith. We put on plays together (one in her garage), had lots of sleepovers and road our bikes up and down Dwiggins and Jay Streets. Though our friendship waned in our teen and later years, I always liked and admired Marguerite and am saddened that her life was cut short.

Brains, beauty, and elegance all wrapped up in such a sweet soul. You left us way too soon cousin, but you will always be in my heart.

To the family of Mrs. Davis. I am a writer for the Times newspaper. We do stories called tributes, which are done at no charge to the families. They are profiles of people who've recently departed, and have lived life well. It seems to me that Mrs. Davis would be a perfect candidate for such a story. If you are interested, you may contact me at [email protected].

The only way to describe Marguerite was: "SIMLPISTIC ELEGANCE"!! She lived her life just as she cared for her garden; Vibrant & Full of Life!!
