WILLIAM SLANINA Obituary

William E. Slanina, age 91, formerly of Naperville, IL, at rest Saturday, May 7, 2011 at his daughter's home in Davidson, NC. Born Feb. 4, 1920 in Chicago, IL, the son of the late Anthony and Sophie Slanina. Beloved husband of the late Rita; loving father of Rita (Steve) Takahashi, James (Linda Basinger) Slanina and the late William and the late A.J. Slanina; cherished grandfather of Elizabeth (Joseph) Hammer, Rebecca (Brian Yerys) Takahashi, William (Alison), Meredith and Stephenie (Lonnie Manns) Takahaski, Alison (Steve) Kottra, Kaitlin and Anne Slanina; dear great-grandfather of eight; fond father-in-law of Joan Slanina. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to either Hospice and Palliative Care Lake Norman, 705 Griffith St., Suite 203, Davidson, NC 28036 or United Luekodystrophy Foundation at www.ulf.org. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 16 at 9:30 a.m. at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 36 N. Ellsworth Street, Naperville, IL with entombment at Queen of Heaven Mausoleum, Hillside, IL.
