MAUREEN LASKOWSKI Obituary

Maureen Bernadette Laskowski, nee Wis, 65, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2011 in Joliet, IL after a protracted battle with cancer. Born Oct. 14, 1945, Maureen spent the first few years of her life living on the Southside of Chicago in the Beverly Hills neighborhood before moving to Chicago's Near Northside. She attended St. Marys of the Angels Grade School and Notre Dame H.S., during which she was involved in the Royal Aires, a Chicago area drum corps. After graduating from St. Mary's Academy in Nauvoo, IL; she attended the University of Illinois. During her adult life, she had partnerships in many restaurants and continued to be involved in drum corps activity by volunteering for the Cavaliers. Later in life she became a school bus driver. Maureen is survived by her daughter, Laureen Blissard (Paul) and sons, Anthony Laskowski, Kevin Laskowski (Michelle); as well as her grandsons Cameron, Chaz, and Connor; Additionally, her brothers, William Wis (Barbara), Robert Wis (Therese), and Clement Wis (Meg); as well as her best friend and caregiver, Irene Alexander. A private memorial service is being held Saturday, May 14 in Naperville. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to Family Shelter Service in DuPage County.
