Josephine Rubino, 88, of the Old Boston section of Jenkins Twp., passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2024, in Shavertown at the home of her daughter and caregiver, Annmarie Angelicola.
Born March 16, 1936, in Moosic, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Anna Siesicka Kobilinski.
She was a graduate of Moosic High School. Josephine was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Pittston, where she spent several years as their lecturer and catechist, preparing children of the parish for their first holy communion. She was a woman of great faith and all who knew her were gifted with her kindness and generosity. She spent many years opening her home and heart as a foster parent.
Preceding her in death was her loving husband, Augustine "Tiny" Rubino Sr.; sons, John and Joseph Rubino; granddaughters, Jillian Angelicola and Nicole Notaro; daughter-in-law, Kathy Rubino; and all of her siblings.
She is survived by her daughters, Annmarie Angelicola, Shavertown; Christina Medico (Bill), Florida; son, Anthony Rubino Sr., Pittston; grandsons, Augustine Angelicola, Shavertown; Michael Rubino, Pittston; Anthony Rubino Jr. (Amy), Wilkes-Barre; Jackson Rubino, Nanticoke; granddaughters, Lauren Lewis (Tyler), Shavertown; Tina Brown (Jason), Pittston; great-granddaughters, Lilyrose Angelicola and Lennon Lewis, Shavertown; Alexandria and Olivia Rubino, Wilkes-Barre; Harper Brown, Pittston; great-grandsons, Austin Lewis and Gino Angelicola, Shavertown; and Reed Brown, Pittston; several other grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; daughters, Joann and Mary Jo; and son, Augustine Jr.
Special gratitude goes out to all the nurses from residential hospice and her aide, Jamie, for the compassionate care given to Josephine. A special thank you to Shellie and Georgia for offering their assistance and love when needed.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in St. Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William St., Pittston. Interment was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Carverton. Arrangements are by Adonizio Funeral Home LLC, Pittston.
Mom, we hold you close within our hearts and there you will remain, you'll walk with us throughout our lives until we meet again so rest in peace, our loving mom, much thanks for all you've done we pray that God has given you the crown you truly won.
