Gary Laird Obituary

March 9, 2011 SYRACUSE - Gary L Laird, 56, of Syracuse, passed peacefully at home following a short illness, on March 9, 2011. Born in Auburn, Mr. Laird was founder (1993), owner and president of Concrete Restoration & Protection Company based in Syracuse. He was an avid sportsman with hobbies that included target shooting, hunting, fishing and golf. Some of his dearest passions included travel (Las Vegas), BBQ, photography, his three dogs (Westies, Stewart and Molly, and Scotty, Wallace), and spending time with his family. Gary was a life-long automotive and Harley-Davidson enthusiast. Mr. Laird was also an active member of various civic and professional organizations. He was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Jeanette Laird, of Auburn. He is survived by his beloved wife of 20 years, Nancy Laird; and his step-children, Richard (Rachel) Zerrillo, of Syracuse, Robert (Lara) Zerrillo, of Fayetteville, Daniel (Chelsea) Zerrillo, of Rochester. Mr. Laird was a loving grandfather to his seven grandchildren, Gianna, Ava, Claire, Elizabeth, Katherine, Dominic and Olivia. Survivors include siblings, including a devoted brother, Timothy (Kor) Laird, of Auburn; and several cousins, aunts and uncles Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m., Monday, at Farone & Son Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, 1500 Park St., Syracuse. Contributions may be made to the Lustgarten Foundation, 1111 Stewart Ave, Bethpage, NY, 11714. Pancreatic cancer is the most lethal cancer there is. Although I have not seen Gary in a long time, he was one of my best friends in high school and after graduation. He shared my love for music and we attended quite a few concerts together. I was very sorry to learn of his illness and his passing away.
