Recently, I (and a good patch of the McConnaughy clan) attended the celebration of your youngest's marriage. I saw your eldest's burgeoning artistry taking form. "Uncle Lester" you'd be so proud of both of them. They are so very different but I see you in both of them. I can't believe you've been gone for 13 years. It seems like yesterday we were laughing together. I miss you.

You would be 65 this week my friend. Miss you every day. You worked for my freedom and can't tell you enough how much I appreciate mine. I hear you laughter in my mind and remember the days we spent over so many years. Be at peace. You are so loved.

To Les' Family and Friends. Having had the opportunity to read all the wonderfully reflective comments and memories of Les, it seems that someone who was so much a part of so many is never really gone. May God Bless you all and give your hearts peace, comfort, and rapid healing from this loss.

To the friends, family and loved ones of Leslie, I had the distinct pleasure
of serving with Senior Chief Piotrowski in Adak, AK as a young First Class
Petty Officer. Had it not been for her guidance, leadership and council, I
would not be where I am today. Rest easy Shipmate, the Navy and the world
are a better and safer place because of you and those you trained. I pray
your family and friends find joy and comfort in a lifetime of memories you
created.

Dear "Uncle Lester" I miss you so much it hurts. I was holding my sides laughing remembering sitting on the floor of the kitchen on Jacaranda Street while you, mom, and I watched a 3 year old Michelle clomp around the kitchen in your wood sole sandals and when she lifted her dress & tucked it under her chin to look at your shoes clip clop on the floor she had on no undies. I thought we would all die laughing. I'll always remember you laughing that day. All my love, Marianne

I have known Leslie since she taught the class next to us in A School. She and I worked together in Adak and was one of the people I have always looked up to. The last time I "talked" to her was on TWS...we both lost a very good friend from a long time ago and she was telling me to "keep my chin up and it will all get better." I now pass on this advice to all of those who were lucky enough to know her. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family. You will be extremely missed Leslie.

Senior Chief P was my instructor in "A" school and a mentor at my second duty station at CNSG. She tolerated and even encouraged my behavior as a young sailor and I thank her for that. Farewell you will be missed. Robert "Chainsaw" Willhelm

Leslie was not only my CTA "A" School Instructor and Shipmate at two tours at CNSG (NEB AVE) and DCS she was also my friend. Leslie was sought out for advice and wisdom(as by testimony on this guestbook) by all ranks from E-1s to O-8s. Being "Piotrowski Trained" made the difference in my career and I have Leslie to thank for that. Her family are in the prayers of my family as they cope with this grievous time of life. She was such a joy an inspiration to all. She will be sorely missed by both her immediate family and Navy family...all over the world. May God Bless your family and friends.

I worked with Leslie when I was stationed at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, FL a few years ago. We immediately took to each other because I was an active duty Chief and she she was a retired Senior Chief (although as we say, once a Chief, ALWAYS a Chief!) She was a terrific person and she will be missed.

I too had the pleasure to alongside Leslie as an Instructor at NTTC Corry. Her professionalism and dedication to the Staff and Students was beyond reproach. The care and nurturing she provided to A-Schoolers clearly allowed many to have very successful careers in the Navy. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family and our shipmates.

Leslie was so much more to me than just my CTA "A" School Instructor, and Shipmate @ Neb Ave and DCS...she was my goto friend. Everyone could always count on her, regardless of rank, to be there and guide with wisdom like none other. She personified lead by example! Our family prayers, like so many others are with your family during this grievous time of life. It was an honor and privilege to have known her for the last 22 years. May God bless her blood family and the Navy family she leaves behind.
