Don Leifert was, and will always be, memorable. A great and engaging teacher with warmth and compassion is unique - but Don offered us so much more. His humanity, sense of humor, and zeal were a prominent part of my education both as a student and as a human being.
For that, I thank him and all those that love and cherish him for keeping his memory alive.

Dear Leifert Family,
We regret the loss of your son, father and uncle.
We will remember Donald Leifert Jr. as a significant influence in our son's life. He encouraged Frankie to develop characters and his own character in two years of Theater at Towson High. In addition, Frankie cut his hair for a role in a play and prefers this look, today!
Sincerely.

I met Don at Towson University in the Theater Department back in 1974- he immediately befriended me and kept me laughing all the years I knew him- I reconnected with Don this summer and we planned to get together this fall- Don would say that was bad timing, I suppose- I can hardly believe his larger-than-life personality is no longer with us- even after not seeing him these past many years, he is missed greatly- my thoughts are with his daughter and family- be consoled that Don made a huge impact on many, many lives-all the best

I had Mr. Liefert for 11th grade English at Carver Center A&T. His humor was contagious. He was instumental in improving my writing skills, a lesson and a teacher that I fondly remember.

Two of my daughters attend Towson and knew Mr. Leifert. I am sorry for your loss. I am glad that my one daughter was able to be taught by him. He had given m daughter and her friend their nicknames of "Frick" and "Frack" which let me know that he had a wonderful sense of humor. I wish nothing but ease through this hard time for your family. I know my daughters will miss him. Fraley / Gillespie Family

Dear Family of Don,
I had the pleasure of Don's wit, wisdom and wonder of all things dramatic as we attended the same pool. He'd entertain us all with his array of stories, jokes and the latest book and movie we should invest in...
He loved his students, family and life. Elizabeth was his Masterpiece and his love for her will spotlight her for all her years. He always lit up when she was the topic and he included her in every conversation. He was the proudest Dad ever. Don will be sorely missed. My prayers will continue for the family as time moves on.

I went to Carver Center for Arts and Technology while Mr Leifert taught there. He was a good teacher that gave me the chance to be an 80 year old woman in a show. He always gave newbies a chance which was something that I always thought highly of him for. Something that I remember about him is that he always had a story to share about his little girl (since it has been more than 10 years, I'm sure she is now a young lady). Elizabeth, your father was so proud of you and talked about you always to his students. - Tiffany Mowry (Krysztofiak)

As a former student of Mr. Leifert, I respected him very much. I was very saddened when I heard of his death on Saturday. I thought he wasn't dead at first and refused to believe it, but with all the people, it was evident that he was dead. He was one of the best teachers I ever had and I wish those that knew him the best.

Don was a major influence in my life - in theatre, school, and film. I don't know if he realized how many people he touched and inspired, but I know it's easily in the 1000s. Liz, your father loved you so much and I know he is so proud of you. Don, you will be missed.

I worked with Don for a short time while I worked in the office at THS. He would eat on B Lunch while I photocopied. He always had the entire lunchroom in stitches. Our loss is heaven's gain.

Don & I taught together in the English Dept. at Carver, so I saw 1st hand the positive impact he had on his students. He & my husband David share the same sense of humor ... Don called David his long-lost brother. We are both saddened by his death. Our thoughts are with Elizabeth & the rest of his family.

Mr. Leifert had a profound impact on my life. I had the pleasure of having him for both English & Journalism at Dundalk High. He truly was the first teacher to say that I had talent - it only takes one voice or one person to have confidence in you. He forever changed my life...I finally believed in something..me! He was a very special person. I am deeply saddened for his family - he was loved and will be missed by many.

Don was an extraordinary human being who touched many lives. I am so glad to have met him and to be able to call him a friend. Because of his sudden death I will now be framing the Breakfast at Tiffany's score he gave to me. That's just how special he was.

Mr. Leifert taught at Carver Center for the Arts when I was a student there. I was luckily to have known him and unbelievably lucky to have learned from him. My thoughts and prayers are with those whose lives he touched - in a sense, everyone he met.

Donny made an impression on me and my family!!! I grew up with his sister, Cheryl, on Belmar Avenue when we were small and Donny always put on shows and made us laugh!!!!! Later he taught my son, Matthew, at Carver and while at functions at the school would tell everyone that my husband, Bryant looked like Joe Pesi!!! Then my daughter, Mary Ellen, would spend time with his daughter on weekends when she was at his parents house. So I have gone full circle with his family and will always feel a hole in my heart for Donny!!!!!!

Don, better known as Mr. Leifert was an awesome teacher and human being. I know this because his was my 10th grade english teacher back in 83 at Dundalk High School. My heart goes out to his family . Especially his daughter. I would see him from time to time through the years and he had nothing but pride and great things to say about you. Please let us know about any arrangements for a memorial.Thank you Suzanne Toft (Nagel).
