I often still think of Kenny when I reminisce about how lucky I was to grow and be around such special people. Though I live in NC now, I recently drove up Mountain Road in East Concord and somehow had an old memory of riding home on the school bus(!) and having a bully say he was going to beat we up when we got off. Kenny said, "Don't worry about it, I have your back." When we got off, the bully quickly found an excuse to leave. When Kenny was your friend, you were never alone. I also remember how great and warming it was to see him at the too-few times I got to in his later years. It's clear that the memories and his strong and kind spirit will always be with me.

Dear Carter Family,
I was a class mate of Ken's at CHS we graduated the same year. Ken then came to work at CFD. I was the Adm.Asst. to the Chief of the Department and worked with Ken many times when he was President of the union. He was a very kind, thoughtful and principaled President. I want you to know he will be forever in my memory as well as many other Fire Department employee's. We all used to buy corn and vegs from him as well. Fondly, Lynn Johnson LaBontee.
