I remember playing soccer with Katie. She always loved the game and never gave up. Everyday I continued playing I would remember how excited she was to finally be able to play together on same team. I still have my jersey with the K patch on the side in remembrance of her! Keep shining down on all the hearts you touched Katie, you truly are a guardian angel.

Your family, and the community that surrounds you and loves you, has been and will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. I had the awesome opportunity to know Katie when she was at Kindercare and then to babysit her and Doug over a few summers. Although it's been years, the memory of them both is very clear to me. She had the most beautiful blue eyes and was so happy, gentle, and warm. May peace find you and be with your family.

Although I did not know Katie, she has been on my mind consistently the last 4 days. My son is a 6th grader at Stetson, but did not have the opportunity to get to know Katie. From all the wonderful things I've read about her, I'm sure he would have liked her very much.
I am so saddened by the devastation your family must be feeling. Please know that the community is behind you, ready and willing to help in any way...yet knowing that the single thing that would truly give you comfort is not possible, to have your sweet daughter in your arms again. I was blessed to have known Katie,as well as Doug. I was their bus driver in Elementery school. I will always remember her infectious smile every morning and afternoon! She still had it when I would pull up to Stetson everyday. While she was waiting on her bus to pick her up, she would be waving like crazy.It really gave you a great feeling to see her!
