Though I never knew you, you are omeone who makes me realize that in your short 20 years of life you made many happy. And that you never wasted a a minute of your life showing that I should also take my lie day by day, and make that day as if it were my last day on earth, because it might be.

To the Lee family. I was thinking about your son tonight. I will never understand why bad things happen to good people. I want to commend your family for coming to America and for the values you have instilled into your children. America lost a very bright young man, full of promise and wonderful potential. I think about you and your family every day. A lifetime would be to soon to forget what has happened. I will never forget. I am a parent to two young men. I pray that God is holding you and your family today in his arms just like I am sure he is holding your son, Henry.

Dear Ly Family: I worked with Henry from time to time at Williamson Rd Library. Whenever he came in and blessed us with his prescence, the atmosphere instantly became brighter. He was truly a ray of light which shone from within his spirit. He always seemed to just know when we needed his help..he would just show up when we were backed up with books and movies to put away and did his job (volunteering his time) quickly and amazingly well. He would just go to work and within 30 min to an hour the place was cleared of all backed up materials. He was quiet, but once I got to know him a little better, I was so amazed at his humour, maturity and sense of fun. I loved Henh for that. He was truly an amazing and unique person. He had that rare combination of intelligence, humour, discipline and empathy for others. I have kept all the clippings on him from the newspaper and will never forget this beautiful child who gave so much. Love and Prayers, Lisa Sharkey

I didn't know any of the victims or their families . I think you were the epitome of what America stands for and a true American hero. I was born in Roanoke and have family there still. May GOD bless your family and all of the victims families and friends.
My heart stood still when I heard the news and tears came to my eyes. You are in a much better place and the angels are watching over you and your loved ones. Long live your memory and the Hookie spirit !May you rest in peace .You make us proud to live in America !

The sun shines in the Virginia skies .
As a blessed angel sings a song dedicated to the Hookie pride.
With braveness and courage from where he stood.
He who protects his brothers and sisters with his heart so good.
A mind is a beauty like BlueRidge skyline.
And you were the slogan that to me seems so far away .
"That Virginia is for Lovers".

To Henry's family and friends,
Our heavenly father Jehovah (Ps 83:18) promises at Isaiah 41:10 - "Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not gaze about, for I am your God. I will fortify you. I will really help you. I will really keep fast hold of you with my right hand of righteousness". May you grasp hold of his hand and allow him to guide you through the coming days, weeks, months and years.
Comfort may also be gained from these additional scriptures:
Isaiah 25:8 - "He will actually swallow up death forever."
Revelation 21:4 - "and he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away."
I have gained much comfort from the word of God after the loss of my husband on 9/11.

I am writing to express my condolences to your family for the loss that you have suffered in the past month. Being an immigrant myself and familiar with the vietnamese community in the Roanoke Valley, I cannot truly say that I know the pain that you feel but I can definitely say that it must be difficult. May God be with you and yours in the coming days. Look to your friends and family and find comfort in their blessings and well wishes.

Henh had much to offer the world and he will be purely missed.

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am the sparkle in the snow.
I am the shredded leaves that blow.
I am the sunlight on growing grain.
I am the gentle summer rain.
I am the quiet bird at night.
Circling about; Taking flight.
So do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.

To The Lee Family:
I am writing this brief note to your family because I so deeply feel that when we are faced with the sudden loss of someone so very dear to us that it is one of the hardest things in our lives we will have to face. Yet, I would like to share with you something that touched my heart, it is the knowledge that God will respond to our persistent prayers to help us through any tough time such as this. At Philippians 4:6 and 7 it says that "the peace of God that excels all thought will guard your heart and your mental powers." Please know that my prayers are with you at this time and I urge you to continue to pray for strength to get through the rough moments ahead.

RISE UP SLOWLY, ANGEL

Rise up, slowly, Angel.
I cannot let you go.
Just drift softly midst the faces,
In sorrow now bent low.

Ease the searing anger,
Born in harsh unyielding truth
That Death could steal my loved one
From the glowing blush of youth.

Rise up slowly, Angel.
Do not leave me here alone,
Where the warmth of mortal essence
Lies replaced by cold, hard stone.

Speak to me in breezes
Whispered through the drying leaves,
And caress my brow with raindrops
Filtered by the sheltering trees.

Rise up slowly, Angel,
For I cannot hear the song
Which calls you through the shadows
Into the light beyond.

Wrap me in your downy cape
Of sunshine, warm with love,
And kiss a tear-stained mother's face
With moonlight from above.

Then wait for me at sunset,
Beside the lily pond,
And guide me safely homeward
To your world,which lies beyond.

Just spread your wings and take me
In reunion’s sweet embrace,
And we shall soar, together,
To a different time and place.

To The Family of Henry Lee-My sympathy goes out to your family. Always look to God's word for the comfort and strength to help you endure this difficult time. Revelation 21:3,4 promises that soon sorrow, sickness & even death will be done away with. Also take comfort in knowing that Jehovah does care about you and He has the power to resurrect our loved ones.(John 5:28,29)

Henh, was incredible. His brilliant smile and magnetic personality permeated everyone who met him. Those who knew him were blessed to have him as part of their lives. He is already greatly missed.

I read about this young man in several places and he just sounds like a delightful person. I am so sorry for your loss. Our Heavenly Father is described as "the God who supplies endurance and comfort". (Romans 15:5) We can be confident that God gives comfort to those who serve him. (James 1:17) Jehovah is "healing the brokenhearted ones, and is binding up their painful spots". May the God who gives comfort be with all who love Henry Lee.

REST IN PEACE SWEET BEAUTIFUL PRECIOUS ANGEL

Ilene Holmes

April 26, 2007

To Hanh Ly's family: I am so sorry for this bright and beautiful son that you lost. I would have liked to know him. You must have been so proud of him, and I suspect that your other children make you proud too, because it seems you all have accomplished major things, and you have taught your children to work hard and strive for what they want. I hope you are able to find peace with this senseless loss, and to find joy again with those in your family who have survived.

You did an excellent job of memorializing him in the newspaper, and your description of how his brother searched all day for him was very touching. That bond that made Manh look for him, that makes all of you look out for each other, is what makes you strong. You must not lose hope. You must not lose joy.

God bless you all especially now while you are grieving.

I am very sorry for your loss. I have experienced losses both anticipated and unexpected. When I was fifteen years old in my first year in high school, my mother died of melanoma at age 54 in December 2004; we were anticipating the loss. As with me, I am sure your loss is emotionally stressful for you and your family.

Your grief may ebb and flow. It has been said that each of us has this well deep inside of us that can be filled to the brim with grief. Every time we cry, we empty out some of the well. But the well fills again. The level of sorrow in your well may lessen as time passes, but it will never run dry. There will always be birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, and those days when the well seems to fill to its brim again. Allow yourself time to remember and mourn. It is part of your healing. Grief is a continuing journey.

Henry Lee—Henh Ly—the spasticdude
The serious student who had funky moods
The clown who made others laugh with fun
10 children he was the 9th—a son
He gave an unforgettable night at a dance
He said that if he could do it anyone had a chance
For he tried to do right by the things he did
He had the wit—he love to kid
He was energetic mixed with smarts
He was unique and technically off the charts
Henh the son Henry the friend
Him the world will miss for the things he could give

I'm sorry for the loss of one fine person. From the bottom of my heart, I share the grief with the Ly's family. Be strong and remember the memory that you had with Henry.

April 25, 2007

We are heart struck over the senseless actions of one individual. Our thoughts are with you. After the tears stop flowing and the pain softens try to remember the time you shared with your loved one and the memories you made, Memories are eternal and forever and know one can take that away from you.

April 25, 2007

When we lost our 21-year-old daughter, also a college student, in a tragic car crash six years ago we never would have thought anyone would understand the pain we have been feeling. But to Henry's family, know that there are thousands who know what you are feeling and we know that while the pain will never ever go away, it will gradually ease and you will one day be able to smile again when you think of the times you cherished with Henry. This is a time when you are feeling tremendous support from people all over the world. Soon you will be alone with your grief and you will need to support each other as never before. Seek counseling; seek out others like you as I am with this message. You will find comfort and strength, and Henry will remain forever. I wish you all the best in this difficult journey.

What a wonderful young man we have read about over the past days. I know that he was such a blessing to all that knew him. I hope you will know throughout the days ahead how many people are upholding you and the family in prayers. It won't stop this week or next. The prayers for you will be lifted up to our gracious and Heavenly Father for days and months and years to come. We won't forget Henry's name. We won't the sacrifices he made in his life and even in his death. Thank you for allowing so many to know this young man. May God bless each one of you as you continue to grieve. Hold tight to the memories of times together.

It is so shocking what happened on that sorrowful day
In my prayers you will forever stay
Although we never met and I did not know you
This is a poem for you to say my adieu
It is a shame you can not be with us today
Due to everything that happened I am still in dismay
Now you are up in a better place
We will never forget your honor and grace
Please look over us, protect us from dangers
You are missed by your family and countless strangers
I wanted to let you know you are in the thoughts of many
Condolences and commiserations are aplenty
I bless your family hope they stay strong
In my thoughts they will always belong
I say to you and the other decease
I wish that you all rest in peace

I didnt know any of the people that passed, but this whole thing has gotten to me, alot. I am 15 years old and I'm a freshman at Crawford County High School in Roberta, GA. This tragedy has most definatley opened up the eyes of many people, even in other states far from Virginia. Even my school in this little town we know as Roberta are buckling down and making sure that our schools are safer. It has opened up my eyes to all the possiblities at schools, here in Georgia, Virginia, and all over the world also. My condolences go out to all the friends and family of the victims. I can't possibly begin to imagine what they must be going through. Stay strong, VT will pull through!

I did not know you or your family. But I don’t believe there is a person in the world whose heart has not been touched by this tragedy. There is nothing in this life that brings us more sorrow than to lose loved ones in death. Even harder to bear is when the lives of loved ones are lost due to an unexpected tragedy. The shock can be overwhelming.
Be assured that God promises that he…”is near to those that are broken at heart; and those who are crushed in spirit he saves.” (Psalms 34:18) Nothing can bring us more peace of mind than the inspired words of… the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulations. (2 Corinthians 1:3,4) Take comfort and solace in the Bible's message as we all await the time when GOD…” will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” (Revelation 21:3,4)

Even though I didn't know Henh that well but we did graduate together...Class of 2006. I use to always see him at Willam Fleming either on campus or in the halls, and he would always have a smile on his face. Henh's family, you're in my thoughts and prayers. May God Bless Each and Everyone One of You.

Roanoke and Hokie love is with you at this time. It just makes no sense. I guess it is not for us to know such things, but this doesn't ease the pain.
Time helps, and life is a "new different" that we are not used to.
That is the hard part.
