Not sure what to say?

I attended OUST and Airborne school at Fort Benning, GA with Olivas. While we were never very close I will never forget him. Olivas called me out during combatives training for a one on one bout. While I dont remember why, Ill never forget how on the very starting whistle he slapped the absolute crap out of me! Lol! Dont remember much else about the bout but I sure remember that. Was very saddened to hear of his passes during the deployment shortly after. Every Memorial Day I remember him as the first person I knew that lost their life in combat. God bless the family he left behind.

January 14, 2013

Nicholas Olivas was a great man. I say this with certainty, as I was the signed witness at his wedding with Faith Olivas and also present for the birth of their son. This man deserves to be forever recognized and remembered as a hero. His family, friends, and I miss him dearly. We will always be thankful for the sacrifice he made for us.

I know there are no words to say at this time, except how sorry that I am. My thoughts and prayers are with you always. Nicholas will never be forgotten.

For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I'm home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I'm only a civilian
And I don't even know if it's allowed

But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.

For those missing in action;
for those who didn't make it home.
I know you're in God's presence you are not alone.
For every neatly folded flag;
for every shattered family
I will do the only thing I know to dignify your memory.

I salute you, allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
my humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.

I salute you .

I Salute You.

A man of faith, a husband, a father, and a friend to others, Nick Olivas took up a cause that is essential, whether or not we would have it so. His loss is wrenching, and our prayers are for his family, that they may find comfort and reflect the glory of the young soldier who is gone from us, sharing his faith that the Sovereign Lord will wipe away every tear when he reunites us in the final day.

I knew Nicholas when he was real young. I work for the VA and come from a big family of Veterans. Words cannot explain your pain and bittersweet feelings as he was willing to give the ultimate sacrifice for this country and freedom. Soldiers have a special place in Heaven and I know he is up there looking down on his whole family n friends!!!! When soldiers enlist they give a blank check to the country for "up to and including their lives" and they will always be remembered for that! May God touch your hearts and surround you with comfort in this time. Baby boy.... When you grow up and is reading these about your daddy know that he is an actual hero and he died fighting for million of people's freedom!

Una Carta de Dios Para
La Familia de
Un verdadero héroe Americano
Cpl Nicholas Olivas

Querido Hijo Mio,

Cover them over with beautiful flowers,
Deck them with garlands, those brothers of ours,
Lying so silent by night and by day
Sleeping the years of their manhood away.
Give them the meed they have won in the past;
Give them the honors their future forcast;
Give them the chaplets they won in the strife;
Give them the laurels they lost with their life.

Today we thank our heroes, our soldiers brave and tall
All who gave much more than some, And some who gave it all.
Young men and women came across this land so wild and free,
They stand together, side by side, in the light of liberty.

They say that freedom is not free and comes with such a price,
And here before us stands the men who went and thought not twice.
From Flanders Fields, Korea's shores, the rice fields of Viet Nam,
Across the oceans, to the East, they came for Uncle Sam.

With grateful hearts we take the time today to sing your praise,
And thank you once again with love, our glass to you we raise,
For had it not been you right there, our land would not be free,
So rest in peace, God keeps you close, you gave us liberty.
