I was shocked and sorry to hear about Bobs death and Gayles loss. I and my two little grandsons had been having coffee with Bob and his church friends for the past three years. He always had a kind word for the grandsons too. There is no doubt that he had the proper credentials to enter heaven. I will always remember him from his Harley Davidson episode.

My Dearest Gayle,
Although our time together as neighbors and friends was short, it was a most memorable highlight for me and Bob. These memories will be forever preserved in photos and in our hearts. May God grant you comfort, healing and peace in your time of sorrow and loss. My heart and prayers go out to you.

Dear Gayle & Erich,
I am so sorry to hear about Bob. What a great man and dear friend of our family. I feel so fortunate to have grown up across the street from you. I will always think of Bob with a smile on his face, telling a good joke, ready to go on his next run. And I think he must have fixed all the leaky faucets in our house at least once over the years. I will never forget when you made the trip out to Boston for my wedding – it meant so much to have you there. We will all miss him so much. You are in our thoughts & prayers.
With love,
Barb & Greg Thompson

Uncle Bob, you are an inspiration. In so many areas of life. And a pillar to the Ross family. Will miss you. For now. But will look forward to seeing you again. When that day comes, let’s go for a run together. Unfettered by earthly limits. In the mean time, will continue to honor the legacy that you’ve inspired. Specifically, of living life to the fullest. Of not taking oneself too seriously. Of being there in others’ time of need. Of loving and supporting those around us. Of not allowing ego to encumber. Of prioritizing relationships above physical possessions. Of remaining mentally tough and positive, even when facing physical adversity. And of pursuing passions with unbridled enthusiasm. Thank you, uncle Bob, for the inspiration. And for sharing these important life lessons. Love you, and see you again. -Jay

Gayle. I cherish all of my memories growing up as your neighbor and as your friend. I am forever indebted to you and Bob for all of the kindness and mentoring you provided me for so many years. I remember our great bike rides, countless hours of tennis practice and just how much fun a late night driveway party can be on a summer night. Even as a kid, I admired how you and Bob interacted with one another and always had such energy and a passion for your work, sports and everything you enjoyed doing together. In recent years, I always liked running into Bob around town or at the Bike Rack to catch up on lost time. He will be greatly missed. Please know that you, Erich and your entire family are in my thoughts and prayers. God bless. Todd Johnson

I am so sorry for your loss. I remember your family when I was a green horn at Immanuel Med Center lab working the evening shift. We learned hard work and good times. Hard to realize Erich is a grown up man now:)
I have thought of you often over the years and wondered if you were still in Omaha. You are in my thoughts and prayers now and in the days to come.

Gayle and Erich: Todd and I were reminiscing about the many summer nights we spent in your driveway on Vane Street, admiring your automobiles and learning a true "live life to the fullest" perspecive from you and Bob. The memories are still so clear to me. He was a great man and I will never forget him. I am praying for him and for you in this time of sadness but Heaven is a better place today with him in it.
Peace to you.

Gayle and Tom: I'm sorry to hear of Bob's death. I remember Bob at Cathedral High School many years ago - Bob was part of the Arbor St crowd that took the street car to Cathedral; Bob was an enthusiastic student, participated in all school activities, and nobody could ice skate like Bob. He continued this spirit throughout life and work. I will keep you all in my prayers. Bill Caniglia

Gayle, Erich, and family: As we grew up living next door to you on Vane Street, it was always a pleasure and great fun to know you. Bob took pride and pleasure in keeping those vintage cars looking show-room new. And (I didn't know at the time), all those "ski-trips" you made every year would end up being something I later greatly identified with, as I took up the sport at age 30 and have enjoyed it almost that many years now too. I'll never forget that morning I skiied with Bob at Winter Park a few years ago-- which was the day he became ill in the afternoon. I don't know if that was the last time Bob was on the slopes (I hope not), but if it was, I'm happy he saved one of his last runs for me. The Ross' have always been a live-life-to-the-fullest family and I KNOW they will miss Bob. Glad I knew him.

Life is short and in reflection it seems my relationship with my Brother and best friend Bob has been condensed inside a very small window but in reality we did indeed together enjoy so many of the fruits of life in a way I will always treasure. We skied countless miles in the mountains of Colorado, played tennis, talked cars, enjoyed adult beverages, and engulfed in deep and sometimes controversial conversations. Looking forward I'm already missing Bro. Bob but will forever hold him in my heart. He lived a good life and prioritized doing God's will and his reward in eternity is unquestionable. May Gayle, Erich, Jen and soon to be grandson be comforted in God's love and peace. I'll see you later Bob................."Tommy"
