It´s hard to believe it´s been 9 years. My son was in Mrs. Harris class at Avery and he really enjoyed having her as a teacher. He tended to get in trouble with many teachers as he lacked focus and was a bit of a class clown. Mrs. Harris was understanding and allowed him some freedom in this area and it really seemed to help him and even dare I say enjoy school. She was only a part of our lives for a few short months and in that time she made a big impact. The world lost a beautiful soul that day.

Just today I learned of Heather's passing through a coworker. You may not remember me but I taught with Heather at East North Street Academy in Greenville, SC and was Matthew's first grade teacher. I have fond memories of Heather and Matthew and I have thought of you all over the years. My heart goes out to you; I know that Heather was a Christian and is now safe with Jesus, but that does not diminish the sadness felt by those left here on earth. My prayers will be with you all.

Pastor Steven and Matthew, I was so sad and sorry to hear of the passing of Ms. Harris. My son Rick Cotton loved her so much. She was the best teacher he ever had. She had a way of bring out the best in him. I will be forever grateful for the love she showed him.
Words will not be able to ease the pain you must be feeling but know that the Lord has His arms around you and He will get you though this time. Rick and I will keep you both in our prayer. What a blessing to have a chance to know Ms. Harris

Heather always greeted me with a smile and her warmth welcomed all who came near her. Her students had only good stories and memories of her. She will be missed greatly, but she left a lasting impression on us all. One of her students said, "She was the best teacher I ever had. She knew me." My condolences to her family.

I am horrified, shocked and still can't believe that Heather has passed. My heart is crushed. Being of same age, friends aren't “supposed” to die until we reach 80-90 years old. She started to greatly impacted the core of my life when she was 15 years old. Her smile, discipline, grace, will, love, beauty, elegance, genuine care and Godliness were apparent even then. (Galatians 5:22-23) All of this, evidence of her parents training. I pray that God will continue to wrap His generous loving arms around the Ledford and Harris families. To lift you up and comfort you. May we honor her by studying God's word daily.

Heather Harris was one of the most genuine, loving, and Christ-honoring women that I have been privileged to know. Her loving smile is forever etched in my mind. Although I only knew her for three years, she had a tremendous impact on my family, as did Pastor Steven and Matthew. Their witness is still ministering to us even though we are many miles away. I am so thankful for them. There is not a day that goes by that we don't think about Steven, Matthew and Heather. The Harris family is a testimony to the almighty power of God and what true being a Christ-follower really looks like. I can only thank God for the opportunity that He has given me to witness the God-honoring sacrificial love, faithfulness and commitment of Heather Harris, one of God's jewels. Pastor Steven and Matthew, you are loved and are in my heart. I pray that God will give you strength and courage in the days ahead.

Pastor Steve and Matthew, Several years ago I met you and Heather when you were in the ministry at Northern Heights Baptist Church in Norfolk, Ne. I remember Heather always full of life with that big smile of hers lighting up the room. Amazing in the only word I can use to express her. Please accept our sincere sympathy and Prayers in your time of loss. I don't know if you remember the banner that was hanging over the aisle at Northern Heights at that time, but I do and I would like you to cling to the verse that was on that banner. It was Hebrews 4:16. "Come now therefore BOLDLY before the throne of Grace that you may obtain Grace and Mercy in your time of need." We are Praying for you and your family at this time of loss.

Dear Harris Family, My daughter was a student in Mrs. Harris' class and she loved Mrs Harris very much. She was always very respectful, interested in our children's lives and an excellent example for young people. I was honored that she was my daughters' teacher for I felt she could easily have taught a college level class. We are comforted knowing she is in God's memory....she will long be in ours.
