SOUTH BEND - Judy M. Daffron, 88, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 31st, in Sterling House, South Bend. Judy was born on December 2, 1923, in Mishawaka, to Joseph and Floy (Deter) Lehr. She was preceded in death by her mother, Floy; father, Joseph; and stepmother, Laura Lehr, who was like a mother to her; a brother, John Lehr; and her son-in-law, Joseph Cocquyt. On April 10, 1944, in Mishawaka, she married Thomas W. Daffron, who preceded her in death in November 1997. Surviving are daughters, Jodie Cocquyt of South Bend and Janan Durban of Indianapolis; son, Thomas (Marianne) Daffron of Vandalia, MI; seven grandchildren, Kristin (Peter) Pica, Kevin (Jana) Cocquyt, Jason (Michelle) Durban, Jenna (Mike) Brunsman, Murri (Matt) Franklin, Taya (Kirby) Loupe and Tim (Amy) Daffron; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Ruth Lehr and Doris (Ted) Wood; and many nieces and nephews. Judy was employed by the Assessor's Office and the St. Joseph County Surveyor's Office, retiring in 1983. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka, and the FOE Ladies Auxiliary. She was a 1941 graduate of Mishawaka High School where she served as the Chair for the reunion committee. She was also a past president of the Beiger Elementary PTA, a member of the FOP East End Little League Ladies Auxiliary, and was a proud member of the Rocking Chair Rockettes and the Screwballs social club. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on Friday, February 3rd, in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 4th, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka, with Rev. Terry Fisher officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637. The family would like to offer special thanks to the Sterling House and all of the staff for their care and compassion shown to Judy and her family.
