Marian Ayers

AYERS, Marian W., 92, of Blackstone, formerly of Keysville, died Friday, March 19, 2010. Born January 23, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Edward Lee and Virginia Love Frost Wilkins. A faithful wife and devoted mother, she was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, James Russell Ayers and her son, James Allen Ayers. Marian was also preceded in death by three sisters, Pearl Royall Bailey, Virginia Ruth Sharpe, and Elvin Elizabeth Lynch, and by three brothers, Charlie, Ollie, and Jasper Wilkins. Cherishing her memory, Marian is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rita and David Rash of Blackstone; grandchildren, James Robert Rash, Tracey Lynn Newcomb, Shanlee Gay Tucker, and Christopher Lewis Ayers; and four great-grandchildren. Marian is also survived by her loving sister, Ruby Austin of Victoria. Marian was a lifelong member of Tussekiah Baptist Church. She was a strong-willed woman who lived a full, rich life devoting her talents to taking care of her family and those she loved. Her witty sense of humor charmed the hearts of many and she will be deeply missed. Graveside services will be held at Lakeview Cemetery, Victoria, on Sunday, March 21, at 1 p.m. The family will receive friends at Staples Funeral Home, Victoria, on Saturday from 3 to 4 p.m. In her memory, please consider donating to your favorite charity.
