Dear Bekos Family,

He will be missed! The community has lost a wonderful loving and compassionate man.

I remember growing up in the neighborhood and spending a great deal of time in his store as a child.

I remember how patient he was as my sister, cousins and I were taking our time to figure out what kind of candy we wanted to buy.

Altough he had adult paying customers he never rushed us, and always had a beautiful smile after we had completed our purchase.

After we moved out of the area and became adults he never forgot us. He knew our faces and remembered what family we belonged to.

He never failed to ask about our parents as well as other family members, and he always sent his regards to them.

Peace be with all of you. Our deepest condolences...The English/Duncan Family

To the Bekos Family,
Our hearts and prayers go out to you at the loss of such a great man. We have many fond memories of the Bekos Brothers, Pete, Nick, Ted and Dad Bekos, growing up on Oakwood. All the way down to the pictures of all the neighborhood kids that used to hang across the top of the wall near the candy. Then the last time I saw him at Sam's preparing to cook a huge meal was such a joy for me. May your love and memories help sustain you all. Rest in Peace, Pete. We will definitely miss you. To the Bekos Family:
So sorry to hear of the loss of Mr. Bekos. I remember my grandfather bringing me to the store as a little girl. I remember those Cain potato chips for 5 cents and the Variety Club fruit punch soda. I looked so forward to going to his store for treats. Glad the family stayed in the neighborhood. He was such a nice man. Deepest regards and sympathy to the family.

To the Bekos Family,

Words cannot express the feelings and heartache that we're feeling right now. The Greek community has lost a true leader and a great man. I spent a lot of time with Pete in the AHEPA and the Zenobia Shrine, Evzones group over the years. I always found Pete to be the voice of common sense and a rock to lean on when needed. Pete was a great man with many friends and his presence here made all of us better for knowing him. Please accept my deepest sympathy and may God bless Pete and your family.

To Mrs Bekos and The Entire Bekos Family. Words cannot express the sorrow I felt when I heard of your loss. I pray that God give your entire family strength to endure the pain you might be feeling at this time. I grew up right across the street from Bekos Market on Oakwood. As a kid in the 60’s Pete showed everyone nothing but love and respect, he also gave us many words of wisdom. One stayed with me more than others, which was, “stay in school and go on to college and make something out of yourself because we owe it to your parents to do better then what they did”. As a kid, I didn’t quite understand it, but as I got older I then understood. I went on to school, married and had a family of my own and move away. Each time I came home, I always stop by just to say hello and update him, Nike and Ted on what was going on with me. Please know, he will truly be missed by so many people who lives he touched. My God bless you and your family.

As I was growing up I remember Pete and his brothers coming to my Dad's restaurant once or twice a week late at night. There we talked "politics" until 2 am and then closed down the place. Pete we are going to miss you. The name "Bekos" is a permanent and fond fixture in my teenage and young adult memories. May his memory be eternal.

One could not go to Bekos without getting a friendly smile and meeting the next child or family member Mr. Bekos had brought into the business. He even seem to recognize your children as you came back to visit the neighborhood. May you be comforted by your fond memories of Mr. Bekos and the Love of God is my prayer.

My nouno had a heart of gold and I always admired his dedication to his family and friends. From watching him care for his mother as she grew older to receiving advice from both him and Nouna before I left for college, his priorities were clear and pure. We will miss you, Nouno.
