Barbara was my boss at DC Public Library and a friend for many years. She taught me so much professionally - about literature, books and children. We always enjoyed visiting with her, Alex and Elizabeth. They were so loving and generous, like grandparents, to my children. She really made an impact, and we are forever grateful for our times together.

Barbara was always kind, generous and caring to all who knew her, but to me she was a life-long friend, mentor and big "sister." Her memory is cherished by me and her family.

Being the younger brother of such a lovely and talented person was a true challenge, but one that I welcomed. Her guidance, when we were young, set me on a different path than I otherwise might have chosen, for which I am forever grateful. We shared a lot of childhood memories not too long ago at Mrs. K's Restaurant to the delight of one of my daughters, who was with us. Barbara's love of stories and books was passed on to my children, and grandchildren, who always looked forward to her visits. We all, (Anita, Brian, Susan, Carolyn and I) will miss her , but forever, cherish her memory.
