On Thursday, January 27, 2011 of Kensington, MD. Beloved husband of Pauline Wright Banyasz; father of Andrea Banyasz of Washington, DC and Gabriella Banyasz; father-in-law of Jonathan Deitch; grandfather of Alex Deitch all of Levallios-Perret, France. Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard West, Silver Spring, MD, Monday, January 31, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. with prayers at 4:30 p.m. Interment private. Unfortunately, we only came to know Bela in the last couple of years. Apparently he was quite a character in his younger days! He was always so sweet to us...he concocted special toys for our kitties and made sure we had hungarian peppers in the garden. We will miss him a lot. You are all in our thoughts.

I knew Bela at COMSAT, and being an amateur radio operator, I was fascinated by his story of being a "ham" in Hungary when the Soviet Union put down the revolt in, I think, 1956.
