Francisco A. Martinez Flores Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 28, 2005.
Marine Pfc. Francisco Martinez Flores, who had moved to California from Mexico at age 3, was to become a U.S. citizen in two weeks. But the 21-year-old Marine was killed before he could take an oath of allegiance to the country he died fighting for. Martinez, 21, of Los Angeles, died March 25 when his tank went over a collapsing bridge and fell into the Euphrates River. The eldest of four children, Martinez joined the Marines to pursue his goal of going to college, said his mother, Martha. He wanted to become a stock broker or detective. "He had many dreams, many aspirations, and they ended. It''s not fair," she said.

”Honor and Remember” - “Project Compassion” We love our Soldiers! We love our country and we cannot express enough love and compassion to the families of our fallen heroes. War does not discriminate – It breaks our hearts to see the faces of the fallen. We want to give this gift to the hero’s Mother, Father and/or spouse. We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization! Almost 2,100 portraits have been completed and shipped to the parents and or spouse - at no cost as this is a gift from one American to another!
This is a gift! We have wonderful sponsors who help with the costs, and want you know that everyone here at Project Compassion does and will always CARE.
Contact us directly at [email protected] or go to www.heropaintings.com . If you have already had a portrait completed, we pray that you are enjoying the portrait and God Bless You.
Sincerely and Respectfully,
Kenna

Six years have passed since this fine young man paid the ultimate price for service to his country. Had he lived, he would only have been 27 now - how much he has missed, and how much his family and friends must have missed his presence during this time. His country and his Corps are the poorer for his passing, and yet we must also remember to be grateful that he lived and for the memories he leaves behind.
Sincere blessings to his family. Rest in Peace PFC. Francisco A. Martinez Flores - your duty is done and you are remembered, always.

I have a lot of loved ones in the military and what they all sacrifice is amazing to me. I know that there are no words that can comfort your family and loved ones. I just wanted to say thank you for your courage and love of this nation. It is people like you that give this world hope and the ability for us to be free. You are a hero and may god bless you, your family and may you rest in eternal peace.

If this person can stand in battle to ensure my freedom, then I will stand in grief with his/her family to honor him/her. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guest book for the rest of my life, but I promised Le Ron A. Wilson (a dear friend KIA 7/6/07, 18yrs old) that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.

I am truly sorry for the loss of your son. I am sure he will be truly missed. My husband and I stand beside him as a brother and a sister both in uniform and combat boots and we are TRULY PROUD of his unselfish sacrifice to his country! Because of his Bravery, another will live on in Freedom. He joins the ranks of many, many fallen soldiers whose proud memories will live on forever and whose Sacrifices will not be forgotten. Thank you, Sir, for our freedom that we sometimes take for granted, for my daughter's freedom-filled future, and for those after us. Honor and Dignity you take with you to Heaven. Hoo-rah Marine! I salute you, Sir!
