Unfortunatly, I didn't have the chance to get to know Uncle Boot very well. However, I can remember my mom, Nancy Woods, and Granny praying for him often. I know they loved him so very much. I can only imagine how excited they must be to have their prayers answered and to see their Son and Brother once again. I am sending all my love and prayers for God's grace to be with his family at this time.

Lester was one of the nicest men I have ever met. He use to always come over on or around my birthday and we'd chat about old times, business or family. He was distinguished by his wit and Elvis like hair.
I haven't seen him in a few years, but he'd call my mom once and awhile to say hello. I am truly sorry I didn't get to say goodbye. We will miss him tremendously.

There are no words to describe the loss of a father. I want to make sure to thank those who have called me to offer their support and sympathy, your love and prayers mean so much now. As I have shared with many of you I was able to spend six hours just praying with my father in the days before he died, and our parting words to each other on that visit were “I love you.” I prayed with everything I had for his salvation and his peace, it was a wonderful visit with him and I believe he is in heaven with mom now. That night is perhaps the most precious memory to me.
There are many more memories to share though, and I have been comforted by the memories shared with family and friends in the days since his passing. I remember the stories told again and again through the years of my mom and dad, how they went from two kids playing in the orchard to the pillars of a strong and growing family which goes on today. My mom and dad were still young themselves and now raising two young kids when my dad came home after one of many hard days working for the Painters Union, for someone else, wanting to do better for himself and his family. My mom couldn't stand to see him in so much pain, hurting and pushed to tears. So a small brown type writer, that I have still today, was purchased and with a letter and a bid; Jenkins Decorating Company Incorporated was born. I remember how those companies grew up right along with me and my brother, first Jenkins Decorating then A&L Construction Company and next out of those, L.B.Jenkins Rental properties. It all grew together the family and the family companies. My dad always taught us to have such great pride in our work and in what we were building as a family. By the time my brother and I were old enough to hold brushes we were working with dad! And then mom and dad started adding rental homes and the comercial properties in washington D.C. on Georgia Avenue. Eventually my brother, myself and both of our families were working for and running the companies, pouring in the same blood, sweat and tears our parents had. Our family built that from the ground up, from one small paint job to very large commercial jobs that brought in checks so large my father thought we would have a fit with the IRS. And all the while my parents were bringing us up, from tiny boys to men who could gain the admiration and respect of those they worked for and those who worked for them. I thought that we were invincible together.
With the loss of my mother and now my dad I am reminded of a different kind of strength, the strength that comes through love. Gods love. I know they are together in heaven right now. One of many favorite stories is of them when they were very young; as children my mother had figured out where my father would be passing to go back and forth from home and his job picking apples. She would climb up in the tree over where he would pass and wait to spit mulberries in his hair. My dads hair was very light and it made his hair have orange spots! I would have paid to see that! You never could bring up mom that he wouldn't tear up. I know that when he gets to heaven the first thing he will tell her is “I Mo Ta.”
The stories I tell here, and many more, are the stories that my children have heard and will tell their children about their grandma Lindell and granddaddy Lester, about the Jenkins, and about themselves.
Mom & Dad, May God be with us. I Thank you, I Love you and miss you very much. Arnold Wayne Jenkins Sr.

Lester, You were a wonderful father to me and a wonderful Pappy to my children. I will miss you hugging and kissing me everytime you saw me. "Hello Darling" will be words that I will always remember. Thank you for always being there for me. You poor man, every single time my mother and I got in a dispute you took my side. I will always remember that. I will miss seeing you almost every single Sunday. Cook outs, Crabs, Outback, Chinese food ..none of these things will be the same with out you. As I was going through the motions of my day today I would remember that you are not here with us anymore and I would have to stop and make sense of that. It is very hard to believe. I love you and will see you in Heaven.
