David J. Brangman Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 18, 2005.
David J. Brangman's mother said she had never seen her son more proud than when he showed up at her job in uniform. "He was the most handsomest I'd ever seen him," said Inez Ortiz. "He's still my baby, but he learned to be a man." Brangman, of Lake Worth, Fla., died Feb. 13 in Uvanni when a mortar round struck his vehicle. He was stationed at Fort Stewart and his death came 10 days after his 20th birthday. "To lose your child in the same month that you brought him in is doubly hard," said Ortiz. Brangman, who was home-schooled, entered the Army in February 2003, one month before the U.S. invasion of Iraq. He joined up both to earn money for college and after being profoundly affected by the Sept. 11 attacks. "He wanted to do something for his country," said Ortiz. "And that's what he did." Brangman and his family moved from Albany, N.Y., six years ago. He loved to draw and dreamed of being an architect. He also is survived by his stepfather, Alfonso Ortiz.

Hello,

We apologize for being so late in expressing our deepest condolences to you and your family. We want you to know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this holiday season and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo, service branch, rank and hometown of David J. Brangman US Army Private 1st Class.

We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families, friends and others who support our mission.

We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

Sincerely,

To the family of Pfc. David J. Brangman. Please accept my deepest sympathy in the loss of your son. Know that David was a true hero and we will always honor and keep him in our hearts and prayers. David was in the same command as our son Pfc. Timothy J. Seamans who met with the same faith as your son on August 18, 2005. I hope we can meet one day and share their stories. I started a foundation to honor all the fallen in Florida - Timothy J. Seamans Memorial Foundation, Inc., dba Florida Fallen Heroes (www.floridafallenheroes.org). Both our son's were KIA in 2005 from an IED and in Samarra, Iraq each a member of the 3/69 out of Ft. Stewart, GA. Next time my wife and I are at Ft. Stewart we will visit David's tree and lay a rose for him as we do for Tim, Jeremy, Nathan and Ray; one is also placed at Eddie Murphy tree. Know that you will be in our hearts and prayers always. May God bless and give all of you comfort. David and Tim are together again at Fidlers Green.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

Its been two years ago today that you were killed. I still remember when I found out it was you. I am proud to have led a soldier like you, even briefly. I know A Co's chain of command was proud too. I hope your family has found some peace in the two years since that miserable day. Our brothers are back in country now, and unfortunately another family has already received the terrible news that their loved one has been killed.

Ms. Ortiz and Family--
David was an amazing soldier, the best that America has to offer its people. I am so sorry for your loss and the losses that others have suffered. Everyday I wear a bracelet with David's name and the names of two others who were killed in Iraq. I hope one day we can all find some sense of closure amidst the pain.

As an active member of the U.S. Navy. I am constantly reminded of the dangers, the sacrifices, and hardships we all endure, but every single person that pays the ultimate sacrifice upon the altar of freedom that we as Americans enjoy every day, I am both saddened and supremely proud of their great love for country and humanity. To you that are survived my heart and unending gratititude go out to you, and although I never knew your son, I do know that he is a real HERO!

Psalm 23

1

The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.

2

He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,

3

He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

5

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

6

Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

This is a verse that I have found to be comforting to me during my husbands death. Remember that when it seems that no one else is round, God is still there with you! And he will be your rock!

My daughter,McKaLyne, and I send our heartfelt sympathy for your loss! God Bless this warrior, God Bless those whom serve freedom's cause! They are our true HERO's!!!!

INEZ, IN YOUR STATEMENT TO THE PRESS, YOU SAID DAVID WANTED TO DO SOMETHING FOR HIS COUNTRY. DAVID TOLD ME THE SAME AT MY HOUSE THE DAY HE WENT TO YOUR JOB, YOU SHOULD ALWAYS BE VERY PROUD OF HIM. TO ALL THAT DID NOT KNOW DAVID, HE ALWAYS TRIED TO DO THE RIGHT THING IN LIFE AND ALWAYS MADE SURE HIS MOM WAS OK. DAVID WAS A WELL MANNERED YOUNG MAN AND VERY RESPECTFUL. I WILL PRAY FOR HIM AND YOUR FAMILY, AND AS ALWAYS YOU KNOW THAT ME AND DAWN WILL BE THERE FOR YOU. LOVE JIM AND DAWN
