Jesse Barber Obituary
JESSE B. BARBER, III
Suddenly on Wednesday, March 30, 2011. Preceded in death by Dr. Jesse B. Barber, Jr. and Constance R. Barber, Jesse, III was one of four Barber children. Left to cherish his memory are siblings, Clifton J. Barber, Charles K. Barber and Marguerite J. Owens; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, other loving relatives and friends. On Tuesday, April 5, 2011, visitation will be held at Northeastern Presbyterian Church, 2112 Varnum Street, Washington, DC 20018 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m.; service will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 Noon. Interment private. Arrangements by McGuire.

Jesse, if you were my friend in college, I considered you a gentle spirit, kind and vulnerable to the plight of mankind, even as a 19 year old! It is painful to think you are no longer here to shine your gentle light. I shall miss you.

To Clif, Charles, Joye and the family:
I was so saddened to hear the news about Jesse. I will always hold good memories of the times we all had during the reunions I attended with my Mom. My Mom sends her heartfelt love, sympathy and prayers to all as do I. Enjoy your new life in heaven, Jesse.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Jesse's passing. We spent many hours volunteering at WARL and he was very supportive me when I was out of work. His kindness to all - dogs and people - will be remembered for a long time to come.

To Cliff, Charles, Joye and family..As you know your mom and dad along with Jesse took me in when I moved there. Not only then they treat me like family but Jesse treated me like a brother. I have a lot of great memories of him and working with him on a number of family reunions. You lost a wonderful brother and a great person. Since leaving Washington, I always look forward to seeing him at the reunions. I will miss him. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I'm sorry I could not be there for his going home celebration He is in a good place. Love you all.

We were saddened to hear of Jesse’s passing. We were all blessed with his kindness and great sense of humor. He was always great fun – a joy to family and friends. One of the best memories was the time Jesse hosted the “side trip” family reunion in Las Vegas. We had great fun with a great host. Our love and prayers to all.

I am so saddened by Jesse's passing. I volunteered with him often at WARL, and always enjoyed his company and his sense of humor. He was such a kind and gentle soul, and cared so much about the animals. He was always willing to help with whatever was needed. He will be greatly missed. I am very saddened to hear of Jesse's passing. I enjoyed his company so much at many adoption events before he moved over to spend more time in the hospital. He had a true connection with the animals. My sincerest condolences to his family.

Jesse will be greatly missed. At dog adoption events he always volunteered to be responsible for the most challenging dogs. His patience and love always did wonders with them.

I am very sad to hear of Jesse's passing. I believe that the true measure of a person is reflected in how they treat helpless creatures. In that way, Jesse was an enormously kind man. I knew Jesse through the shelter and through his enormous kindness to Berdina. I never thought I could see a dog grin before I saw Berdina with Jesse. She was just grinning from ear to ear at her happiness to be with him.

My eyes are full of tears as I read about Jesse's passing. Like me, a long-time volunteer at Washington Animal Rescue League, always happy to see him there, his love for humans and other animals evident. I will miss him.

My deepest condolences go out to you Joye, Charlie and Cliff. I was really shocked and saddened to hear about the passing of Jesse. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. I know from experience how hard it is to lose a sibling. Just remember all of the good times and lean on God when you need Him. He will always be there for you. I remember all the great times we had growing up and I treasure all those memories. Jesse is in a better place now and, in God's time you all will see him again. I was saddened to hear of Jesse's passing. He and I walked dogs many weekend mornings together at WARL, and he was always so positive and upbeat. We were all so happy when he was able to adopt Berdina as they made a great couple. I'll still be looking for him to come walking across the gardens to the shelter in the mornings...
