I went to high school with Ron. He was well liked by all and an easy going person. I saw him at our last reunion and he seemed so happy. I am sadden to hear of his death. My prayers will be with the family. God bless you.

Ron and I met at the University of Georgia where we made our way through the Henry Grady School of Journalism under Dean Drewry. We spent countless hours together working on the Red and Black, eating bad food at some greasy spoon, and making it to class on little or no sleep.

He had a great sense of humor and would go for long quiet periods in groups and then take the pipe out of his mouth and say the funniest remark of the evening. And he was one fine writer. I remember his early series for the Journal on Sandy Springs in which he coined (or at least popularized the tag "Golden Ghetto." He had the gift.

Alas, I saw Ron only rarely after moving out of state. Each time was a joy and I wish I had stayed in better touch with dear, sweet Ron. My sympathy to his family.

Few in this business are strong enough to have Ron's mix of good humor, confidence and diligence.
He was a newsroom all-star.

A great journalist and a better person. One of the truly good people with whom I worked at the AJC. He was of that generation of journalists who did more than just throw words at a blank sheet of paper when we still used paper; he crafted his stories. That craftsmanship was understated and at the same time elegant in its use of language that touched readers. He left an incredible legacy in his work as a reporter and writer that I hope others will take the time to seek out and revel in. He will be missed.

I first met Ron Taylor in January of 1964 when he came into the offices of The Red and Black at The University of Georgia. We worked together on the college newspaper and he and I became great friends. Later, I knew Ron when he worked on The Atlanta Journal along with me. Ron Taylor was a brilliant, creative man with an incredibly strong work ethic. He was well respected for his ability to totally engage his readers and importantly he was able to impart a zest and exhilirating humor in his dealing with the many people he knew. I feel a tremendous loss at the pasing of this person, Ron Taylor. Indeed, Ron Taylor was a great man! Frank White (Stone Mountain, GA)
