VAN VERTH - James E., Ph.D. August 19, 2014, beloved husband of Patricia (nee Bylebyl) Van Verth; loving father of James (Mur Lafferty) and Elizabeth Van Verth; dear grandfather of Fiona Van Verth; brother of Paul (Helyen) Van Verth; uncle of Catherine (Tim) Sayre and John (Amy) Van Verth; also survived by grandnieces and nephews. No prior visitation. Funeral services will be announced at a later date. Memorials may be made to Canisius College, 2001 Main St., Buffalo, where Jim was a professor for almost 40 years. Arrangements by REGER FUNERAL HOME, INC.

Dr. Van Verth was my professor at Canisius in the late 1960s. His knowledge, and patience, were wonderful gifts to his students. He will always be dearly remembered.

Dr. Van Verth was my professor and research advisor. I remember him with great respect as a kind and patient teacher and always supportive. We are all so fortunate to have had such a wonderful person with us here on this earth. May he now enjoy his well-deserved happiness with Our Dear Lord.
