Dear Dr. Annable

I was honored to be an acolyte with Father Racco at the funeral of your wife at Holy Rosary Church. I am married to a Laurel girl and my daughter also went there. I know the relationship that is fostered at Laurel between the teachers and students and from what I have read and heard, Dr. Annable had a special relationship with them. The faculty also held her is very high esteem. I have served many funerals at Holy Rosary over the past two years and I can honestly say that the service for you wife was most beautiful and inspiring. I have never seen Father Racco so touched. I know the homily was difficult for him since he had visited with your wife just afew days earlier. Please accept our deepest sympathy and continued prayers for you and your family during this time of grief and loss.

The loss of such dynamic creativity, loving warmth, and brilliance hit me even harder than I could have anticipated. I often think that the worth of a life is best measured by its impact on other lives; if this is true, Dr. Annable's life is among the most valuable ever lived. She had a grea part in making me and others who we are today -- I hope I will do her proud.

My honest wishes for strength and courage and peace to her family.

i knew mary annable as a teacher, advisor, neighbor, and friend, and will miss her very much. i will never forget sitting in the kitchen while she ran through a list of house sitting instructions...that took all afternoon. the instructions you see, segwayed into general conversation about life, school, vactions, gardens etc. i had always considered myself her student and neighbor untill the phone rang and interrupted our conversation. she told the person on the other end that she would call back because she was

"having tea with a friend." i am so happy that she considered me a friend and i feel grateful to have had all the great conversations and learned so much. she was always extreemly supportive, and while i intimated to many that my teacher- advisor-neighbor-friend had passed away, simply put she was my mentor, and i will think of her often.

Dr. Annable was my adviser and teacher senior year. Once after I received some pretty dismal grades and was anticipating getting chewed out for them she sat me down and instead asked "What is it you like to do?" I didn't have an answer, so she spent the next period pulling and prodding me towards some kind of ambition. She nurtured her students with kindness and patience, but also with a stubborn insistence that they be true to themselves and their abilities. I'll always be grateful I got the chance to be her student.

I am a friend of Gretchen & Bill from sailing and I was very sorry to hear of her passing. It reminds me of when my father died in Nov of 2000. We knew he was sick and going to die, but it did give us some time to say goodbye and let him know we will all make it through this hard time.

I hope and pray your family can do the same w/your loss.

Sitting in Dr. Annable's English class, I learned so many things beyond that of literature and film. She was a strong woman who was a role-model for us all. Lizzy, I am so impressed with your strength. I can see that you are as strong as your mother. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I'm so sorry to hear about Dr.Annable's death. I remember so vividly many discussions from her class senior year. She was, well, "Cool." I've never watched a movie the same way, and will always see the art in them and think of her. Lizzy, I really admire the courage you've had this year. You and your family have many people behind you for support. She was a wonderful wonderful woman.

Dear Dr. Annable,

I was so saddened to read about your wife's passing. I shall always remember the great "hat picture" in your office each time my daughter, Laura, visited you. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers at this time.

Sincerely, Lynda Kaehr

Dr. Annable was an amazing teacher at Laurel School. Though I personally never had her, she was always able to light up the hallways with her warm, vivacious, caring spirit. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her, having touched the hearts of alumnae, friends, family, and strangers. We miss you Dr. Annable.

Dear Lizzy,

I'm so sorry to hear about your mom's passing. Honey, know that you now have an angel in heaven watching over, guiding you, protecting you, and inspiring your life. She would want you to live it to the fullest! I know this is a very tough time of life; I just lost my dad. I'll keep you and your family in my prayers.
