Dear Mellor Family,

My sincerest condolences on the lost of your father. I had known Carl since my early days working with the U. S. Army at Aberdeen Proving Ground, from the late 1980's to when I left the SETH program in 2006. I retired in 2008. Carl was just one of the nicest persons I ever met. His generosity, kindness, knowledge, and true friendship will never be forgotten. I know his legacy through his son Reed and believe that he has made the World a much better place for passing down his love and care of those that he personally made part of his family.

He had always treated me as one of his family, as well.

Goodbye dearest friend,

With Mush Affection And Appreciation,

Stephen Fine

To my dear kind father who gave me everything he had. To the person, my beloved father who was my rock, especially these last 10 years, whom I didn't get to enjoy and express my overlowing gratitude and appreciation for as much as I wanted to in your final years.
Oh my father, I have so many probing questions left unanswered that you created in your last few months with us here on earth, I pray I shall endure to the end to understand the events of our relationship. I often felt so precious to you dad, and for THAT I will never forget you and ALL of your LOVING SACRAFICES you made for me and my children, your priceless possessions. As all of your children were and always will be your priceless possessions, it showed. It always showed from Grandma Fern as well. Those are times I will never forget. You have made me a better person than I have ever deserved, you taught me many things, you shared your delight, your creativity, your love of history and travel with me always. My daughter Rachel is surprising me day by day and throughout the years, WITH the values and love and appreciation of people that she learned through me through YOU and your loving examples and sacrafices. I often get compliments on Rachel and Skyler by "observers" and I am affirmed every time that their successes come through you and your love and example. I feel the loss of you and the more times that we didn't get to share because I was attending to all of my children's needs, as a struggling single mom always-There was never enough time and hours in a day to spend the time I desired with you as we grew closer and close again at the end. I so dearly miss you dad. I visit your grave and talk to you, as if I know you will do your best to help me-no matter where you are, and that as if you were listening to me... and still you dad, your loving spirit once again, 1 month later after your passing, YOUR SPIRIT pulled through for me- by protecting my interests, in the hardest cases, the hardest times- through the longarm of god, thus through the light of Christ controlling people and events.
Dad, please never leave me. I want to and yearn to feel your spirit and wisdom close.
You are and were loved more than I think you ever could have known by me, and I am sorry that I didn't show you as often as I should, and how much your love and tenderness meant to me!~Always!
Say hello to my mother Dimple and Grandma Fern. I miss them too. I hope to meet you when my "end" has come with everlasting love and affection. I know you are up there helping others because you showed me how much you had to give, and why it was so important to give and serve others.
Rest now, so ever in graceful peace, but rejoice with your eternal companion and mother up above. I can now understand how much your mom must have been missing you.
xoxoxoxox! and with the physical kiss on your forehead that I can no longer give. I shall miss you until I see you again. Please help me always to understand your will, and dear God's will above.
Your daughter with the broken wing,
Karen Mellor LeMelle

Condolences to your family. My parents Lawrence and Bernice Butterfield wanted to attend the funeral but are unable to travel the distance because of illness. They have great respect for Carl's integrity shown his catering business. I remember at Sego Lily once when Carl substituted in my 5th grade class and talked about "My Favorite Things" from The Sound of Music - He was an inspiration to many. Lawrence remembers all of the children, especially Reed. We hope Carl's integrity lives on through his legacy.
